Glad it was only a one year deal. We gotta see how he holds up after his injury. If only Markov would have done the same.

If he goes down early...we won't have to worry about him being any of the keys.

Kinda surprised. Really thought he'd get a big contract. Years wise and Money.

I was thinking he'd sign up for 3-4 years at about 3.5 mill. Close enough. Maybe next year.

A safe contract to sign with a guy who went down with a big injury.

Money's good too - I think he'll have a great year and sign long-term next offseason.

So he'll be UFA next year... I don't like it one bit, I'm afraid he'll leave, especially considering he wanted arbitration and only signed a 1 year deal. It sounds as if the Habs and him weren't on the same page at all regarding a longer term deal.

I like it. Sure, more years would have been better, but what's not to love about the money.

Good that #Habs Gorges has avoided arbitration, it's a terrible process...

That was one guy that I wanted to see locked up for a while, but, hopefully if he's playing well and looking good they can start talking extension as soon as January. If everything I've read about him is true he shouldn't be hard to sign. Things can change though even to the point of the team maybe not needing him depending on who develops. Hate to say that though, really like JG.

OMG OMG OMG OMG, how are we ever gonna manage that?

It's insane, with 21 players signed and 5 mil of cap space left and the cap probably going up again next year, and Spacek leaving, how will we ever manage to sign all three of them...

We're now pretty sure to lose one of Price or Subban, it's written in the sky.

I swear people have become so friggin insecure with the cap.

Here's a newsflash : I T S M A D E T O B E S P E N T

About two months ago, I said that Gorges would most probably sign a 1 year deal because the Habs would give the Plekanec treatment. For Plex, it was because of his down year, for Gorges, because of his injury. He'll sign long term next year. There's nothing else to read into that.

I forgot about the Plekanec situation. I agree with you - I think we'll see Gorges signed long-term next season. At least, that's what I hope

Still, at least he's signed now, right?
