Wolski buyout

Lots of speculation with the Rangers only having a little under $6 million left to sign Callahan and a number 6 Dman, they will have to move some cap space to make it all work as they will only have 22 under contract, need to have 23 only roster I believe.

Wolski looks to be bought out, if so he would be worth the risk in Montreal on a one year deal. Only 25 and 6'3" he could be on the 3rd line with Eller and Kostitsyn (making a hell of a third unit), plus he is a top 6 if he comes around too.

Habs surely should be looking at this if he becomes available.

I'm tired of picking up spare parts....let's target a legit player. Unless they want Spacek, then lets talk.

Spacek for Wolski

Wouldn't be a trade, it would be a cheap signing if bought out.

He's not bottom 6 material and he's not good enough for our top 6. No need for him in the slightest.

So he isn't even NHL calibre then?

Whatever.

The guy can put up numbers. He has good playoff numbers too.

Not for us.

If we sign him, it would make White the odd man out. A player who's more valuable to us playing bottom 6 minutes than Wolski.

Would he be an upgrade over Desharnais on that line?

I think we need a bit of size or a center on the 4th line, top 3 lines I like how they are.

If people hate Kostitsyn, wait till you get a hold of this guy.

Not the same style of player at all, Wolski could play with a dozen eggs in his pants and not break them.

Wolski doesn't fit the profile of this team of of Martin at all. He might be 6'3" but he plays smaller than Gionta and Desharnais. No thanks to his total lack of intensity and disappearing acts.

It's moreso the inconsistency I'm talking about, but yes.

I assume Toronto is interested, considering he's a popular figure over there.

Wolski is a notoriously uncommitted player.

There is a reason he's bounced around the league at such a young age. Him and Kostitsyn on the same line would be real frustrating.

You can lump Wolski, Zherdev and Kostitsyn in the same category.

Talented, but shown up when they want and don't really have another gear at cruicial times.

Pass.

Unlike the other 2, AK actually has more than just scoring going for him.

it might be a good idea. Imagine how frustrated it might make kosty? He might have an epiphany and realize how annoying he can be to his own linemates

I am extremely hesitant to lump Kosty with those two. He has shown more commitment and loyalty to his team, and his fitness level.

I'd rather trade for Gaustad since Buffalo needs to shred salary, altough they'll probably just dump Kotalik in the minors.

I don't think he meant that they played the same style... I think he meant the level of frustration with Wolski would be through the roof

It's way too late for the Rangers to buy him out. The buy-out period was prior to July 1. Basically, if they were going to do it they should have done it at the same time that they bought out Drury.

The only thing they can do now is trade him or waive him. I don't want him. He's worse than Pouliot since Pouliot would actually hit. This guy is soft in play and character. Do. Not. Want.

There is a second buyout period in late July/August if the team has a player that has filed for arbitration or the team elects for arbitration with a player.

Anyway, regarding the actual buyout of Wolski, it doesn't look very likely at this juncture. He isn't an ideal top-6 LW, but given the Rangers' lack of depth at that position (Dubinsky, Wolski, Fedotenko, Rupp is what they're going into the season with), moving Wolski just doesn't make much sense. I don't like him; but I, personally, wouldn't pay him to go away, especially with him being in a contract year. He could put up decent numbers with Anisimov/Callahan.

The Habs don't even need him, really.

As for those comparing him to Kostitsyn; Kostitsyn is a much more involved player than Wolski. From what I've seen, he's actually a pretty damn good hitter. Wolski is scared of his own shadow.

I understand your point, to complement the third line with a skilled guy but to me Wolski has alot of holes in his game, could be compared to Zherdev and Frolov.. So its 1 thing to have high skills set, another to be able to play a solid all around game.. Some people here think Palushaj needs another year in the AHL cause his numbers havent been big enough, personally I say he is ready to be a pretty solid contributor on an offensive oriented third line.. He has grown in the system, is already defensive responsible and solid on the basics, he plays with an edge.. I think its ridiculous to take a risk on a guy like this Wolski when you have Palushaj in your system..

If you have a choice of Zherdev, Wolski or other option, which would you take ?
