Very happy with this signing. If he can stay healthy, this could be an absolute steal. Anyone know if he can play either wing? Also, who did he play with last year, in his time with NYR?

Vinny Prospal's agent, Ritch Winter, tells Dispatch: "It's a good fit for both sides. I told (Scott Howson) to save me a playoff ticket."

I am very happy with this. However, coming to the board periodically and seeing people happy with summer moves is kind of creepy.

This is a nice signing, but not enough. 36 yr old forwards coming off injury don't excite me like they used to. (Thank Fedorov for that.)

I hope this doesn't signal the end of dealing.

I hope he will be health, only it was the reason why I prefered another forward.

Really like the move, this team is really starting to look like a legit threat to not just make the playoffs but make some noise too.

Great signing. Howson continues to have the best offseason of any GM in the league.

I'd give that to McPhee.

He only played LW or center with the Rangers.

He got paired with Gaborik a lot in his time with the Rangers because they had pretty good chemistry, but probably got moved around a bit too, I don't quite remember other than he was usually playing on the top line, or at least in the top six

Well the one good thing is that he did come back and play at the end of the year and in the playoffs for the Rangers and did well, so it's not like he was injured all year and hasn't played since. But like I said, i think there's some concern the knee might not hold up too well

YES! That's my boy Scottie!

You know it's an awesome offseason when the only thing you find awkward is that instead of an All-Star defenseman you got an All-Star center.

Thanks, Howson, for cleaning up MacLean's toxic waste. Welcome, Kekalainen; let's get good things built!

Howson is beginning to confound me. He has now done 3 deals that were predicted by many fans, which means they were pretty much the "best case fans could hope" Carter, Wisniewski and now Prospal.

Usually, he brings in guys who are so far off the board, few if any of us even thought of them. Guys like Novotny instead of this very Vaclav Prospal several years back. The team may or may not be drastically improved, but it should be a lot more entertaining.

Does Prospal only play Left Wing or Center or can he play on the right wall as well?

I've been a fan of prospal since 1996. He's played every forward position but most often plays lw or center. His vision and hockey smarts often compensates for his less than blazing speed. I think he can play any forward position .

Good signing. Was hoping for a scenario where we could nab Wolski, but Prospal will do quite nicely.

We now know GMSH's M.O. for acquisitions: Captains and #20s. We have five #20s on our roster: Juice, Umberger, Vermette, Wiz, now Prospal.

We could have an all-20 line.

(Seriously, I'd be shocked if we didn't dress the most Czech's on our roster over the last decade. Anybody care to look this up? This seems like a job for Sprague.)

Oh yeah, Howson>>>>>Portzline at scooping things that Howson does.
I wouldn't know where to start...is there a website that keeps track of Czech players in the NHL over the last 10 years?

Happiness!
This club is going to be fun to watch.

I'd love to have another better blueliner, but we already have 6 one-way contracts on defense.

Love it, but why are people putting him on line 1? Brassard, Umberger, and Vermette are all better than Prospal.

The move I wanted all along once Huselius went down.

I think I'll strongly going to consider some sort of partial season ticket plan. I'm debating for a 6 game pack in some good seats or a quarter season up top.

Maybe the hope is that the D should be better simply because we'll have the puck more.

He should be on Nash's line. Carter isn't the guy you need to play with him. Prospal is a really good passer and that's who you need with Nash, not Carter. I've seen them both play with the Flyers and I was kinda puzzled as to why you made that trade with us for Carter just because he's not the guy you need for Nash.
