You guys have insane depth on D, behind Weber with Suter, Blum, Josi, Klein etc, it seems a bright future. Just in theory, why not trade him for a top scorer?

Because scotch gives a share of its magic to the angels. Bastardized hunch punch gives a share of its magic to the emergency room floor.

Eh, I never liked the taste of Scotch.

The other stuff, though, made it much easier to watch UT football during my last two years in school (07 and 08).

Hard to remember the bad times when you don't have any memory at all...

It's also easier to watch a train wreck when you're slowly going blind

I think what is most likely going on is that both sides would agree to a one year deal for something in the 7-8 million range rather than going to arbitration. they will negotiate right up until August 2, and if they are still far apart, they pull the trigger on the one year deal, which means they can spend this next season working on a long term deal.

I honestly wouldn't be surprised. A one year deal carries Weber to yet another RFA summer. It gets him money quickly. He can still see what the team does to improve.

What I really expect, though, is for a 4 year deal to get done right before the hearing. 4 yr/30m

well, jon blumm put on twitter today that he was going to kelowna today and wanted to know from pred nation what to say to shea to convince him to resign..........

if he's not committed to the preds and making it work, then dp has his work cut out for him. yes, we'll have him for a year............hope we get a big trade at the end.

if he's leaving , then they better re-sign Sutter and Pekka and build from there , now.... and get them on board and committed.

if he wants to move on, he wants to move on........can't do anything about it. But if he does, things need to shift this season for the future. we can't survive losing more than one out of the 3.

Sorry to nitpick, but, barring a trade, we will have him for two years. Shea isn't eligible for UFA status until July 1, 2013.

I would think so to, especially since there is no walk away option with his arbitration so we are guaranteed to be able to re-sign him for at least one year.

however, just in case he was serious, someone with a twitter account tell blum to tell Weber that if he doesnt re-sign long term Im gonna pelt him with big globs of earwax during the preskate opening night..

Have we ever had anybody actually go to an arbitration hearing? I can't think of anyone - although I can recall a few who got really close.

Denny Lambert!

Then he got traded. I don't know how I remember that. Had to look up that he was actually traded instead of the team just walking away.

Predators defenseman Ville Koistinen was awarded a one-year contract at $700,000 as part of the NHLís arbitration process. 2008

Oshie would be a very nice piece coming back. But no, I don't think that is enough. Oshie + 1st + a mid level prospect would be fair I think.

I don't see us dealing with a division rival though.

I figured it might be slightly light on return but your most likely right about division rival. That said you all might be headed east in 2012-2013

Oshie, Ty Rattie and a 2012 first

if its obvious the shea isnt staying beyond his rfas days, and we cant trade him for parise or ryan, that would be a decent return...

I saw something on one of the major websites that stated if Weber accepts a one year contract from arbitration that he's an UFA at the end of the contract. Forget which website it was but it was one of the big ones that have good info.

Wow...looks like that clown get-up was appropriate, because you're funny.

Weber AND Halischuk for "one knee markov," AK, and a 2nd Tell ya what...we'll throw in Lebda instead of Halischuk.

I wonder how much of this is the new agent trying to cut his teeth on this contract...

Also, being July, I'm sure GMDP wants a vacation at some point.
