Not much else is known about the specifics of the injury but one might look to game three of the Pittsburgh series and a collision with Penguin forward James Neal in the first period that forced Malone out of the game for some time.

The surgery itself was said to be arthroscopic in nature.

I knew something seemed off about that.

Kypreos should probably stop tweeting Lightning news. I think someone is ****ing with him.

Maybe Kyper's source mixed up weeks and months. After reading JJ's and the 620 WDAE article 4-6 weeks certainly make a lot more sense.

I'm not sure about the f fa's now

Well for one Prospal is gone to cbj and I dont know about Cory stillman, does he still have game left? Ryan Malone is our only pwf and we need some size and muscle up front because all we have is vinny and we need him putting up points not using his muscle which he doesn't have as much as Malone. I know we need another top six forward though.

Assuming Malone is ready to, we'll have pretty good depth up front as far as I'm concerned.

Shoulders are always a tough injury/operation to come back from. In all reality it might be December until you see Malone actually performing like the Malone of old.(hopefully)

Yep, especially since Malone's game is very physical (banging bodies, battles in front of the net, etc). Considering how long it took Vinny to become his old self again I'm a little worried. Ok, he also had wrist and hand and whatnot injuries but still.

Re: shoulder surgery for Lightning LW Ryan Malone. GM Steve Yzerman called it "minor" and added, "He will be 100 percent very soon."

At about the six week mark now following the procedure, Malone has been cleared to resume full training, which he will continue to do while working out with former Lightning strength and conditioning coach Chuck Lobe outside of Minneapolis, Minn., and skating with fellow players – including teammate Nate Thompson – before arriving in Tampa just ahead of the start of camp.

Though Malone has been cleared for full training, he has not been cleared for contact, and likely won't be before the start of camp, which means he likely will miss some, if not all, of Tampa Bay's six scheduled preseason games.

Everything Malone does in close is all wrists/hands. Vinny has always been a big shooter from the circles. Two different situations, I wouldn't worry about Malone too much. Hell, half of his goals seem to be pucks that are drilled off him that he doesn't see.
