Do you realize how wrong you are? I never said anything about his salary, I said his salary demands. Maybe you don't understand how you worded it, which wouldn't be surprising.
"Campoli was let go because he was redundant"
If Campoli had wanted the amount of money Bowman thought he was worth, he would have been resigned. Whether Campoli is redundant or not isn't the point, he very well might be, but he would still be in the Hawks organization if he wasn't demanding the salary he was.
To say he was let go because he was redundant doesn't make sense. Bowman wanted to keep him, he said so publicly throughout the summer up until they signed Lepisto but the signing of Lepisto didn't make Campoli redundant. If Campoli wanted to take the offer Bowman gave him, he'd be a Hawk, he thinks he's worth more so the Hawks went in a different direction.
What is so ****ing hard to understand?
I'm not really sure why you're having so much trouble, indeed. I can tell you that he was redundant and the Hawks had no true interest in keeping him at any realistic salary, I can show you that they walked away as soon as arbitration was filed, not when his salary demands were made at arbitration, and I can show you the team had no need of anything he brings, and yet you still come back with this.
The Hawks didn't make an arbitration offer. They made no serious attempt to resign him regardless of the media propaganda you apparently swallow without question. They defaulted at arbitration having made clear they were going to walk away regardless of any decision, effectively handing it to Campoli. They had another defenseman on the radar and quite probably had already agreed to terms with him. And yet you still think they had any interest in keeping him.
The Hawks didn't want Campoli the minute he rejected the qualifying offer. It had absolutely nothing to do with "his salary demands" and everything to do with him just not being worth bringing back at any reasonable salary level. That's the only conclusion the evidence actually supports. You got a beef with it, take it up with the Hawks not actually fighting the arbitration hearing, because that is the death of your argument right there.
