Hey look another guy from Florida...we love those. What's this guys angle? He's big but doesn't seem to accumulate a ton of PIMs so I'm guessing he's not a fighter, not overly impressive point totals. Was he the dude with the back issue last year?

Knowing Gillis he's going to be a reclamation project who turns into a 6'5 PWF for us

Decent signing. Huge frame and loves to hit. More competition for the fourth line. Odd though, that he seems like a bit of an Oreskovich-clone (or vice versa).

I remember him mostly as a Bruin. Between him and the Sturm signing, maybe we've decided to join 'em if we can't beat 'em.

Anyways we got one of the best names in hockey, good enough for me.

anyone know his current injury situation? he was out all last year.

i remember he had a big week a few years ago in boston, putting a few goals and knocking guys over and making bruins fans compare him to neely.

if he or oreskovich can switch to LW, bitz/lapierre/oreo could potentially be a pretty badass fourth line.

Sports hernia 2 seasons ago and then complications post-surgery

In 87 games he's put up 9 goals and 18 points, not to bad.

There we did it.

I guess whoever was crying about Gillis not doing anything in early July, and stating that he should at least sign Byron Bitz finally got what they asked for.

He wont make the team.

I really like this signing. I remeber being impressed with Bitz when he got some time in Boston. I think he has a real shot to make the 4th line and I agree a Oreo/Lappy/Bitz 4th line could do some real damage. That line would be hell to play against.

Maybe he could play goalie? Shares the name as once serviceable goaltender Byron Dafoe too.

Canucks sign Byron Bitz on a two-way deal that pays him $700k at NHL level. Good signing - has potential but has battled injuries.

it seems to me that players who first and last name have alliteration tend to have injury problems.
