I really like this signing. I remeber being impressed with Bitz when he got some time in Boston. I think he has a real shot to make the 4th line and I agree a Oreo/Lappy/Bitz 4th line could do some real damage. That line would be hell to play against.

I would be surprised if anything major is done. Maybe a prospect swap or two. This team is very solid and will compete for the west. Needs can be addressed during the season.

Basically means there'll be an open try-out for that 2nd line winger spot between Higgins, Sturm and Hodgson.

Weren't you hearing from your sources that Gillis is done?
lol give me a gritty top 6 forward to play with kesler, or this offseason is a fail
I said this many times, and I won't back off my stance on it. The #1 goal this offseason was to find a top 6 with kesler, if this is not going to happen, especially with losing ehrhoff, its a failure.
I am sure many people will debate this with me, go nuts
If it counts for anything my sources said that Gillis wasn't done yet
Any rumours of who we might be looking at?

I actually agree with you. I think as it stands we've regressed somewhat this offseason as I don't see Marco Sturm as an upgrade over what Torres brought, and I think offense from our back end has weakened.

The end goal is the Stanley Cup, not to "win" the offseason. It's not like the teams "needs" another top 6 forward to win the division. We're deep enough that we're a 1st, 2nd, or 3rd seed before the season eve starts which buys Gillis a TON of time to do something to shore up our top 6 and give us a better chance to win the cup.
I guess what I'm trying to say is I share your thoughts that we need another top 6 forward to feel comfortable of our chances to win the cup but I disagree completely that a rush move has to be made during the offseason. Gillis has time on his side, and he's always proven that he's not one to rush into decisions.
Kind of surprised Bitz took a two-way deal; certainly seems to have more offensive pop than our dear, departed Tanner Glass. I think he's ahead of Duco and Pinnizzoto in the fourth line battle, might edge out Oreskovich, too.

I'll take the bait.
Presidents trophy, game 7 of the stanley cup finals, art ross, selke, etc, etc.
So there is one more notch to go up, but a lot more to go down.
fail - makes it sound like we lost the Sedin's and Kesler and replaced them from within.
They havent improved, but they arent much worse than last year provided Ballard plays like he did prior to dawning the Blue and Green.

Why do this signing? It just seems weird with Oreo still in the fold. Unless he isn't going to be...
MG should be taking a serious look at Campoli. If he can't add that top 6 foward now, at least use that money to add a solid dman. Going into the season with that cap space is fine, but I'd rather have an asset locked in instead.

I agree that we may have regressed slightly but only visually because we haven't brought in a big name to replace Erhoff. Instead we filled up with much better depth at wing. Our defense may not be as threatening but our third line certainly is. Ballard will be back with vengeance this year too.
