Best Undrafted Defencemen?

Just a little food for thought...

I was thinking about Gorges (his contract and all factors surrounding it that I'm aware of) which raised a question: Is Josh Gorges the best undrafted NHL defencemen Right Now.

I know St.Louis is widely regarded as the best undrafted player but my knowledge of undrafted players (specifically, knowing which players weren't drafted) is scarce at best. Knowing that, I thought I'd subject it (my question) to the scrutiny of the HFboards, Habs edition to try to figure it out.

I look forward to reading your thoughts!

Dan Boyle and Dan Girardi are two excellent undrafted defenseman.

Girardi/Gorges is arguable, but Boyle/Gorges is not, IMO. Gorges is still awesome, though.

EDIT: BTW, great username.

Don't forget about Giordano, who wasn't drafted if I'm not mistaken.

Awards:
Mark Giordano of the Calgary Flames should also be noted.

Is Rafalski playing another year or did he retire? He also went undrafted.

bcv beat me to it.

There's also... Marc-Andre Begeron...

Good catch -- I just thought of those two immediately, and as Boyle is clearly better than Gorges, was just answering the OP.

Zbynek Michalek was also undrafted.

I love Gorges and all, but Girardi is better.

Technically Bobby Orr was never drafted.

There is a reasonable argument for choosing one or the other, though, unlike Boyle/Gorges. That's basically what I was saying.

A defensive pairing of Dan Boyle and Zybnek Michalek would be pretty nasty..

You've got both shut down city with Big Z while also providing exceptional breakout passes for the role he plays to go along with the offensive genius in Dan Boyle.

Both players going undrafted but are one of the best at their respective position in terms of what they bring to the ice every night..
