I think we should post our individual thoughts on the rankings so that we could go back and look a few years from now who knows what he's talking about and who doesn't. This way nobody can later claim, "but I always thought Sauer was our top prospect" knowing that we can't verify it. Post your rankings and get your braggin rights!

This is how I would rank our prospects:

2. RW Christian Thomas
3. D Ryan McDonagh
4. LW Chris Kreider
5. RW Jesper Fasth
6. D Dylan McIlrath

By the way, my list isn't really their value right now, but how I expect things to turn out. Obviously Fogarty is worth more than McColgan and McIlrath is worth more than Fasth, but this is how I value players, with the benefit going to high-return guys, even if they are high risk.

3. D Tim Erixon: don't know much about him, but HUGE hopes based on salary and expectations.
4. RW Christian Thomas: His dad was a warrior. Seems to have way more scoring touch. Hoping he can score goals at the next levels.
5. D Dylan McIlrath: Big body. Hopefully the physical presence we haven't had since Beuke and/or Kaspar
6. LW Mats Zuccarello: Still optimistic that he can play at the NHL level and help out our club.
7. LW J.T. Miller: Don't know much about him, but he's a first round pick so Whoooo!
8. LW Carl Hagelin: I feel that he's been way over hyped on these boards and I'll be disappointed. Thinking he'll end up being in the Korpikoski frame.
9. RW Jesper Fasth: My favorite prospect and has been since we drafted him. I have no rational reason for it and hoping he pans out so I can say I liked him since Day 1.
10. D Pavel Valentenko: Liked what I saw of V-Tank in Hartford last year. Hoping he can step it up more this year.

SECOND-TIER PROSPECTS

11. C Oscar Lindberg: Hoping he turns out good. Don't know much about him.
12. D Tomas Kundratek: Really like what I've seen from him. For some reason I really dislike that I've seen a girl at games wearing a Whale Jersey of his and sitting right on the glass. No other reason to dislike the guy.
13. LW Ryan Bourque: don't know enough.
14. C Andrew Yoga: don't know enough
15. C Steven Fogarty: DNE
16. RW Shane McColgan: DNE
17. C Michael St. Croix: DNE
18. RW Dale Weise: I think he can be a 3rd/4th line grinder in the NHL who chips in 7-12 goals.
19. D Mikhail Pashnin: Apparently being the #1 pick in the KHL Draft means nothing... Still hoping he pans out cause I like what I've heard about him.
20. D Blake Parlett: DNE

I did mine based on what I know/have seen/or read about... if I didn't add anything, it's because admittedly, I don't know much...

DNE means Don't know enough, but eventually I got tired of typing that so I left it blank....

I voted 6-10. Our lack of elite prospects and goalie prospects probably hurts us when comparing with other teams but we have to be top 3 in terms of depth in prospects. It's crazy how deep our field goes.

Completely agree. We have guys as far down as #15 that have a good chance of making the NHL. Not many teams can get past 7 or 8 and say that.

A couple things about positions.

Miller listed as a LW. He looks like a power wing at the next level to me, but management sees him as a C in the pros.

Zuccarello Listed at LW. He can play either wing, but is a natural RW.

1 McDonagh
2 Erixon
3 Kreider
4 Thomas
5 Miller
6 McIlrath
7 Zuccarello
8 Hagelin
9 Fasth
10 Valentenko
11 Kundratek
12 Lindberg
13 Weise
14 Yogan
15 Bourque

16. C Michael St. Croix
17. RW Dale Wiese
18. C Andrew Yogan
19. D Jyri Niemi
20. RW Andreas Thuresson

SUSPECTS & PROJECTS

22. G Scott Stajcer

24. D Sam Noreau

27. D Blake Parlett
28. LW Jason Wilson
29. RW Danny Hobbs
30. LW Tommy Grant
I changed the order in the above quote, so that is my rankings of the players.

I personally like McDonagh and Erixon over Kreider right now because I've seen McDonagh play and he is already a top 4 defender, and Erixon has played in a men's league and play at it's highest level on a top team.

I'm much higher on Zuccarello than most people I think, as well as Ryan Bourque and Jyri Niemi.

Still not so high on McIlrath being anything more than a 5th/6th defender who will fight. Pashnin won't sniff the NHL IMO, but I don't think any of the skaters after 20 has a real legit chance at making the NHL.

I think Stajcer or Talbot will be the back-up for Lundqvist in a couple seasons, unless someone is signed or if Chad Johnson is around still.

Biggest Riser by next series of poll: Shane McColgan and Tomas Kundratek. McColgan moves into the top 10, or just outside it when the next poll is made. If Kundratek makes the roster, which is possible being a right handed shot, he'll shoot up the rankings if he plays well at the NHL level

Biggest Faller: Dale Wiese and Pavel Valentenko. Wiese is going to keep moving down just based on the fact he will not get the opportunity to play in the NHL with the forwards already on the roster. If Valentenko does not make this team, he will fall down the list unless his play in Hartford is top AHL pairing level play.

Biggest Question Mark: Mats Zuccarello. Who knows which direction he'll go. I'm one who think's he'll trend upward after showing he's at least capable of being an NHLer in his 1/2 season stint with the Rangers. If he plays in the AHL again, putting up similar numbers, he'll most likely remain where he is on the group list. For some people he'll drop off if he isn't a top 6 winger this season. Obviously all prospects can rise and fall, but I think there are some who can only go one way. Zuccarello is the one guy who I think can go either way drastically.

On the lower end of the 6-10 range, because of the lack of elite prospects, goaltending prospects and the graduation of a lot of the youth.

If it was broken down into categorys:

Defense = 1-5
Offense = 6-10
Goaltending = 21-30

Of course the Rangers dont NEED goaltending prospects, but you have to factor it in. Its the whole pool we are grading. And i dont take too much stock in all of this. Whats good is the Rangers have a very strong youth corp. Some of these kids will be studs, maybe one surprises as an elite. A few of them bomb. Well see what happens.

If you look at the Rangers youth in general - 25 and under... 1-5 rank imo. The quality is good and quantity is large.

I just figured a top 11 prospect list. Anything beyond that becomes highly speculative IMO to making the NHL.
Kreider
Thomas
Zucc
Valentenko
Erixon
MDZ
McIlrath
Lindberg
Fasth
Haglein
Miller

Its a good group to be sure, just outside the top 6 or so. Without the elite name, we wont ever be much higher. And since we won't tank, we will never have one, either.

So easy to pick out Thomas in the crowd. I really want to see what he does in camp and preseason.

1. How many elite kids become prospects? Mostly they make the NHL at the age of 18.

2. Tim Erixon is almost definitely an elite prospect according to everyone. Look for him to become a slightly smaller version of Marc Staal.

Wow, going out on the limb here. Vally ahead of Erixon, McIlrath and MDZ (who is not a prospect) and Miller not in the top 10 and Zucc in the top-10.

Either you know something all of us don't or ... not. If you prove to be right in a few years, you'll be a verified genius on this board.

I'd personally put them at:

1. Ryan McDonagh
2a. Chris Kreider
2b. Tim Erixon
4. Christian Thomas
5. JT Miller
6. Mats Zuccarello
7. Dylan McIlrath
8. Carl Hagelin
9. Jesper Fasth
10. Pavel Valentenko

Based off of how far towards their potential I actually see them developing. For instance, JT Miller is farther from NHL ready than Zuccarello, but I think he has a significantly stronger potential.

I'm still not entirely sold on McIlrath's potential - or, should I say, the likelihood that he reaches his supposed 'ceiling'.

I know our opinions our purely subjective but I don't understand how Ryan McDonagh isn't #1 prospect on everyone's list. The guy is a stud and will be a top tier defensive defenseman for many years to come. He already has better instincts than any defenseman on the Rangers with the possible exception of Sauer. Otherwise, your rankings are pretty solid.
