Help a New Yorker in his time of need

http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/43889983...e=home_oneline

a friend of mine and new yorker danny bobis went missing off the coast of indonesia around 48 hours ago. i know this is a hockey board but as part of the community it would mean a lot to me if people could take a minute out of their day to give positive thoughts to a member of our community. danny is a teacher at long beach high school, an active surfer, and plays drums in a band called cipher.

rescue efforts are limited in this remote part of indonesia where danny got lost, so the family is looking for donations to possibly help them in finding him. if interested, please paypal money to dannybobisfund@gmail.com and for up to the minute information check on here: http://www.facebook.com/DanielBobisInfo?sk=wall

thanks,

Geez some bad news around here lately

I will pray that Danny be returned home safe and sound, and best wishes to all in this tough time.

Anybody in Nassau County that enjoys the local music scene should head to Seaford tomorrow night for a benefit show. I promise all of these guys are incredible, I've seen them all several times.

Pete, this sucks man. I'd be there on the 26th if I wasn't still out in WV.

cipher's a band that's meant a lot to me for a long time and they played a secret show at my house just a few months ago. it's a real rough time for everybody over here.

there's an open mic/benefit in mineola tomorrow night too at:
O'Carroll's Recovery Room
214 Station Plz N
which starts around 930-10pm. i'll probably be stopping in at that one

still hoping for good news. the search team is still out there

It's hard to know what to say and how to say it at times like these. All we can do is offer loving kindness and compassion...if you have the means, donations help!

My prayers go out to Danny and his family.

I grew up surfing on Long Island. Many kids I knew shared the same fantasies. Drawing little surfers on huge waves in our note books, and day dreaming of places like Indo.

Come home to your tribe Danny.
