I haven't seen Andrei hit once if it wasn't a solid hockey play. His hits intimidate and seperate players, they don't come four seconds late like the Lapierre hits.

Ahh funny, you simply changed my words. Just a heads up though, Ott has a total of 53 goals over the past 3 seasons. Kostitsyn has 58 goals over those same 3 seasons.
Ott has 114 points over that same span, Kostitsyn has 119 points. Ott has 36 fights in 3 years, Kostitsyn has 2 fighting majors. In 2011 Steve Ott had 252 hits, Andrei Kostitsyn had 140 hits. In 2010 Steve Ott had 251 hits, Andrei Kostitsyn had 102 hits. In 2009 Steve Ott had 220 hits, Andrei Kostitsyn had 120 hits.

But yeah it's a tough call on who the better more consistently physical player is between the two. Not to mention there's only 5 points separating their overall output in the past 3 seasons. I'd say maybe you should do a little research before you start being so condescending.

As it stands, there would be two spots available for Engqvist, Palushaj... maybe Blunden, Trotter. Gauthier/Martin have to decide if they should get a veteran center or a tough guy.

I wouldn't mind guys like Grier, Madden or Drury. After going through Metropolit, Moore and Halpern, you'd think PG would be interested in Madden or Drury, veteran centers able to kill penalties. Mike Grier would add grit on the 4th line but unless White would be moved to center, he'd be the odd man out.

As much as I wish Desharnais would play left wing on the 3rd line, there is a possibility that Martin might not even consider that option. He might have either Darche or Moen playing with Eller and AK, and DD centering the fourth line. If so, Grier would be a nice pick up. He may not be the fastest but I've always liked him.

They got rid of Lapierre, I doubt they would go for another **** disturber. The thing about instigators is that you gotta be able to back them up. If that's the game Martin wanted to play, PG would have hired one of MacIntyre, Boulton, Janssen, Godard, etc.

drury would be perfect. Right handed shot and great on faceoffs, can move up to occasional 2nd line duty.

mara 600k solid team and system guy, JM likes and defends teammates. 23 man squad

I hope the last move is...

Gomez + Desharnais + 2nd or 1st
For
Hanzal + Whitney

Cammy-Plek-Cole
Patches-Eller-Gionta
Whitney-Hanzal-AK
Moen-Engqvist-White

Ex Darche

That would be sweet!

With all this depth....someone must have a need we can fulfilled.

Our first line looks like Plekanec with Cammy and Cole fallowed by Pac, Gomez and Captain Gionta.
On the back End, our top 4 seems to be Markov with Gorges and PK with Gill
Price should stand tall for 60 plus games.
Unless you wnat a bold move, one that could shake things up, everything else is just finishing touches.
PSPO performer like Cammy.....I would move but only for the right player.

With Markov, Gorges, Kostitsyn and others signed, a power forward top six winger signed (Erik Cole), a new veteran backup goalie for Carey Price plus two new assistant coaches hired, is Pierre Gauthier done?

Players signed for 2011/2012 as per our depth chart:

Cammalleri - Plekanec - Cole
Pacioretty - Gomez - Gionta
Moen - Eller - Kostitsyn
Darche - Desharnais - White

Markov - Subban
Gill - Gorges
Spacek - Yemelin
Weber

Price
Budaj

This leads me to believe that he is close to being done and will bring in one of the following two components, either a centre with experience a la Smolinski, Metropolit or Halpern or a tough winger that can hit and fight a la Winchester, Voros or Belak.

Bottom line is, we need a 13th forward and it's time to add size and toughness plus depth for the playoffs.

Discuss!

Another top 4 d-man or at the very least a d-man for depth. And a good faceoff guy.

If Gauthier's done and this team is hit by injuries Gauthier will need some more Wiz-like magic, especially on D.

Should have re-signed Halpern. Dunno what he can do more really. So few guys left that fit our team.

He's been to the playoffs 6 times and never made it out of the first round, Sooner or later you gotta take it as a sign

Scott Hannan is who I'd be pushing for at this point. He'd be good to solidify our D.

Up front, some options include John Madden, Mike Grier, Brad Winchester, and Chris Clark as veteran depth fourth liners. But they may leave that spot to a younger player, like a battle between Andreas Engqvist and Michael Blunden in training camp.

He's not done...but i don't think we should expect him to add anything more than 1-2 more spare parts...likely a depth forward and possibly a depth d-man.

I would really like one of Madden or Hannan.

I still can't believe Hannan hasn't been signed. He's still a very capable defensive defenseman even though he's slowed down a little

Side note: is this thread really all that different from the "Your final moves thread"?

Unless someone calls and wants Gomez or Spacek for some reason, I think Gauthier is done and we will be starting the year like this. It's gotta be an offer he can't refuse or this is the team we will be starting the season with

I'm with you on that...personally i don't see any reason why we couldn't sign both to 1 year deals and still have 2 to 2.5 in cap space left.

What do Gomez and Spacek have to do with it? We still have 5 million in cap space.

I would personally be shocked if PG doesn't add at least 1 more veteran forward. I could see us sticking with the D, or maybe signing a #8 type like Mara but i can't see us going into this season with Darche as our 12th forward and a rookie as our 13th.
