I don't see the defensive/grit game you do. At all. Just my opinion.

His skating is alright, but right now all I see is big with a wrist shot. Not an overly powerful offensive game, and certainly not anything other then a meh defensive game.

I agree that his defensive game isnt much to brag about yet, but his grit, size, and toughness is. I am not sure how much you have seen of Jimmy Hayes, and maybe I have blinded myself to some of his weaknesses over the years, but this kid has that grit and toughness to be a bottom 6 player. I have seen him absolutely destroy players these past 2 seasons along the boards and with some of his hits. he needs to do it more, but again I blame that on him trying to be a high end scorer instead of a two way performer which he is likely to be.

I see size. He can win board battles due to his size and strength. I don't see the defensive game necessarily and I certainly don't see ANY sort of grit in his game.

I don't see him making the NHL long term and if he does I'd put dollars on him making it as a scoring winger. Glenn Murray/Eric Daze is what he is shooting for. I seriously doubt he makes that.

I'm not for trading Smith. He's dripping with work ethic and character, which we seriously lacked last year, but he's not an amazing prospect who's likely to go on to a stellar career.
I wasn't saying that Smith will be better than Morin when they're both in their primes, no one knows that for sure. My point was that Smith has already produced at critical times, which is something that Morin has yet to do.

Posting their stats is an argument filled with holes. Morin's 3points/9 games = 0.3333 which isn't all that much more than Smith's 4/13 = 0.307. It could easily be called off as small sample sizes for both.

As for what Smith has proven:

I'd find the one from Detroit near the end of the season, but I'm still at work.

Really dont agree with this one. But thats why were voting, to see what HF Hawks majority is.

But glad its not a tie. Even though I'm positive Pirri would have won a revote between the two.
