No surprise. Miller bypassed North Dakota for Plymouth(OHL) and he will get paid. Just like John Moore did two years ago. The SPC will not count against 50 SPC limit with Miller playing in the OHL and it will slide.

What do you think the terms are gonna be?

I see in the CBA 2011 draft picks are due $925K with a $70K max AHL payment.

Well, we are going into the 2011-2012 season and he will play in the OHL, barring a late season addition to Hartford after his OHL season ends.

But yes, next year (2012-13) he can play in the AHL if he's ready.

Miller will get the max signing bonus. $277,500. Probably get the max $925k money. Little or no performance bonus money.

There is a no nonsense intensity about Miller that really impresses me. I have the feeling that he may create a situation where the Rangers are forced to make tough decisions.....soon.

I can't wait for him to get started this season.

Actually I think it would slide. Look at someone like Anisimov for example. His first year in the AHL slid...he played 2 years in the AHL and 2 years in the NHL before his entry level contract was up.

Great news.

As Miller said before the draft, if his drafting team wanted him to go to the OHL he would do so if they gave him a guaranteed ELC.

One year in the CHL and he will compete for an NHL roster spot in September 2012.

he can actually play in the AHL this year because he wasn't drafted out of the CHL....

My wife and I have toyed with idea of naming our first child (if he is a boy) JT, after her dad (John), and my dad (Thomas). However, if JT Miller makes the NHL and becomes a superstar, I will lie and tell everyone he is named JT because of the Rangers superstar player.

Man I love hearing that.... Have to say NYR has been doing a great job drafting. Our present team is chock full of really decent homegrown players, and it looks like the farm system is thriving.

Yeah, I know lol. I was just pointing out that he's playing in the OHL this season. I doubt he'll play in the AHL this year except for maybe a handful of games at the end.

Yeah, he does appear to be 100% focused on playing in the NHL...sooner than later. Looking forward to seeing how he does this year.

Can RB or someone who knows clarify how Miller could play in Hartford this year and whether the Rangers would consider that option?

I personally want him to spend the year in the O but was unaware of this other option.

He was not drafted out of the CHL so he would be eligible to play in the AHL without being 20... Sort of like if a European kid comes over. With that said, DO NOT rush the kid. He played in the USHL last year so I'd doubt he'd be ready for the AHL. Give him the year in the CHL, then you have every option in 12-13..

Love how Cerny and Spector had no idea this was the case this morning. I can't say what was more surprising, them not knowing, or Andrew Gross knowing that Miller can be AHL eligible.
