I know nothing about the guy, but you aren't saying anything here that makes me pleased to have him coaching in the division.

CG's partial to DeBoer because (among other things) he coached her Kitchener Rangers to a Memorial Cup during his 7-year service there.

He had a pretty strong first season with the Panthers, but the jury's still out on whether or not his coaching style translates well to the NHL level.

His coaching style is a good fit for the Devils. He preaches defensive responsibility, combined with a puck possession-type game. We can expect relentless forechecking and strong positional play.

No one else in the division should be happy he's with the Devils.

Let's put it this way - he almost got the Panthers into the playoffs with an AHL lineup. Now that he has real NHL players to work with, it's not going to be pretty.

Well, maybe Brodeur will really suck.

We've been waiting for that for a long time. One of these years, we're bound to get our wish.

Well he missed a good amount of time last year because a shot hit him. That's not something you want to see from your goaltender. I bet this year he spends even more time injured.

Dubinsky signed for the Rangers. 4 years at 4.2M

They still need to sign Callahan and add two defenders to their roster. Wolski might very well be waived I think.

I personally think he's been pretty average for the last couple seasons and last season he put up his worst save percentage since 1994-1995.

Columbus picked up Vinny Prospal. Good deal for them, maybe a line of Prospal-Carter-Umberger?

Devils just traded Brian Rolston away to the Isles for Trent Hunter. Saves the Debbies about $3 million in cap space.

I think thats the first time a team takes a caphit just to reach the floor. Rolston can retire and the Isles save about $5MM but still have the caphit.

Sounds like he's not going to retire. He was willing to go to the Islanders back in December.

Please don't be offended by anything you read on these boards, there's very few people who put any thought behind their words anymore.

He didn't exactly suck last year either. He was hung out to dry more times than nittimaki and esche in the season from hell.

Figured I'd check the stats to confirm.

He has a top 15 GAA, tied with Neuvirth, and still managed 23 wins in 56 games. With practically no team in front of him last year.

The Devils sucked last year. Brodeur didn't. Not his best season, but definitely didn't "suck."

parise and the devils agree to 1 year, $6 million to avoid arbitration, per Bob McKenzie; lulz.
