Where is the Celebrity Support??

Not sure how the rest of you feel but since watching the celebrity support video the Islanders rolled out I started to think who else could/should have been on the video and or should be coming out publicly to support the team and or new arena. One of the most notable absent is one Mr. Billy Joel. The fact that he has a banner hanging in the rafters and the amount of money and support the coliseum gave him I think his absence is disgraceful.

There are others like Seinfeld and Murphy that I would have hoped to hear from but if nothing else look at all the musicans on this list. They must have played there and or even seen some of there favorite artists play in that arena as they grew up on the Island. Where the hell is the love, All due respect but Blue Oyster Cult is all we could get?!?!?!?!?!

Like most of Long Island, they would be shocked to hear we have a professional hockey team...

Wow Law really???

This is the best you got for a response???

Here is a mulligan for ya, take a few more minutes and see if you could come up with something a bit more:

Positive?
Intelligent?
Funny?
Interesting?
etc.

What?

His response is actually true. There is a very large amount of people on Long Island that don't know what the Islanders are, or know what they are but don't follow them at all.

I think the majority of celebrities from Long Island have moved on and frankly don't give a **** about the Islanders or Nassau County.

Not stating anything other than the truth. We can debate the reasons (location, apathy, generation of mismanagement, etc), but let's face it, people on LI don't care about the Islanders, why are we wondering why celebrities with ties to the Island don't care?

Problems with the list-

1)Have no idea who half those names are.
2)having polarizing political figures/tv personalities like o'reilly is not a good idea
3)having someone's claim to fame being a socialite- also would not generate a lot of public support
4)um, Amy fisher and Joey buttafucco would not be good publicity
5) How many names on that list are dead, and not even recently dead- I'm talking centuries. I would love to see a tv commercial with William Floyd, signer of the declaration of independence.

But yes, it would be nice to see more celebrity support.

You guys so missed the point. To a non fan I am sure people are begining to understand that No Islanders will mean No Coliseum.

Billy Joel should care a little, No?

Where the hell is our Downeaster Alexa?

last line of the song:

But there ain't no island left for islanders like me.

Zach Ryder

do you really want this guy to help us?
(Ill admit I am somewhat of a wrestling fan)
Sarah Hughes and Billy Joel are Ranger fans from what I know and Mario Puzo is dead (the guy did write the Godfather books) he lived in Brightwaters farms, I pass his old house on my way to southern White Islip.

To me the whole thing that lame ass guy Jones, did for us yesterday, was better than anything Christie Brinkley could ever say.

Yet another missed point:

What kind of exposure do we get if any of the muscians I highlighted Such as Joel and others come play a free concert and ask those at the rally to vote yes, what kind of media coverage would that give us? You think it might help for a landslide win on august 1st?

Hell for selfish reasons the muscians could do it to garner favor with the New Arena and those that will run it. Not that they need to but it certainly can't hurt there popularity all the way around.

Actually, something that would cost nothing for the artists would be to come out and say they won't play Long Island unless a new arena is built. It's unlikely they'll play it anyway, but it would be another reason for people to pay attention.

Invite Billy Hitler? That's a great idea.

Too bad he died 24 years ago.

Harvey Milk is dead but I would of loved to have him walk into Uniondale and say "I want to recruit you"

Some of the others on that list are dead also, so lets all grab 2 shovels and a flash light and dig them out. WERE ALL ISLANDERS

Interesting list...

Quote:
Jeffrey MacDonald (convicted murderer)
MacDonald is currently serving his sentence at a federal prison in Cumberland, Maryland and continues to maintain his innocence. His projected "release date" is April 5, 2071

-Im guessing he aint showing up

Quote:
Lindsay Lohan (actress)
I heavily doubt anyone would touch this one with a ten foot pole with all her escapades...

Quote:
Telly Savalas (actor)
Wait he'd be awesome!

but....
Quote:
Savalas died on January 22, 1994
We are poking fun at the list ...so no need to get mad.

Though i doubt those rappers would be too involved in the NHL ...at least the guys you mentioned

this guy might...

or this guy

or maybe get these guys to show up... (Staten Island isnt that far away)

I blame Wang doing this so 1/2 assed with his college intern PR department..

Very amateurish for something that should be treated with more savvy PR work.
