As would I, my favorite player in the league. Still a superstar player and leader. But Flames fans hate the Rangers and I think they'd riot if Iggy was traded here.

Vinny's a good player and by all accounts a very good man, so he's the kind of guy you want in the locker room and on the ice.
I have to disagree - we're exactly at the point that we plug in youth for the sake of plugging in youth. Because this means that that the organization is rich and deep enough that there is an influx of capable rookies year after year. This must come at the expense of a player like Prospal who is coming off knee injuries and is 36. He may beat out a guy like Hagelin in training camp, but what is that worth over the course of a season vs. developing a rookie? What if Stepan had lost out to Todd White in camp and had spent the year in HFD? In this example, White would be gone this year and you would still have Stepan completely untested at the NHL level. That would be a tremendous loss to the organization.

I don't think we're in absolute win-now mode and if we by some miracle are in that position in March, then let's trade for a rental vet, but let's use the long season to give ice time to the players who are expected to contribute for years.

Any word on what's going on with Drury? My guess is he'll get a tryout somewhere. Thoughts on who might be interested?

Do you know JUST HOW MUCH CALGARY WILL BE ASKING FOR JEROME??!!!

And ontop of THAT, Jerome will be the same player he was last year, start off slow and then DESTROY IT towards the middle/end. Calgary will be forced to keep him unless the return is retarded. And I DONT see the Rangers having enough to get him (or have the balls to deal away what they have to get him).

Islander fans were thinking they would get a superstar to create buzz before their arena vote.

Instead, they get Rolston.

Jersey frees up $3M this season but takes on $2M in 12-13. This must be the move to encourage Nassau county residents to vote yes on Monday.

Lol at waiving a rock solid NTC to go to the Islanders. Props to Rolston, I guess he's just happy to out of a lame situation.

Islanders clearly won from the POV of being better tomorrow than today, but it's a pretty poor job from Snow to really get the additional value that a desperate trade partner will give (i.e. Caps getting a 1st from COL).

The Debbies hired Dave Barr as an assistant coach which had been rumored before they hired their latest head coach. The usual suspects were also retained. Larry Robinson and Chris Terrari. Lou cronies. Adam Oates is also back. John MacLean hired him. Lou hired the assistants for Pete DeBoer. Sather did that with Ron Low and Bryan Trottier and the media ripped him to shreds.

Lamorello is just going to give him Lemaire's trap book and tell him to follow the ****** plan or else he'll get Mcleaned. Good luck to DeBoer if he dares try to get them to do anything other than trap all season long. Lemaire will be back so soon, DeBoer won't know what hit him...

A shame that Kovalev is going to end his career overseas and a guy like Freddy Sjo can't get a job in the NHL on someone's fourth line.

Hope Kreider doesn't turn out to be Sjostrom

honestly better that way. Kovalev just isn't NHL material anymore at this point in his career and if he still wants to play then the KHL gives him that option.

I believe Sjostrom actually signed with Färjestads BK of the SEL.

I find it really odd Sjostrom couldn't find a team that could use him for 4th line/PK duties. Unless he wanted to leave, I'm confident he'll find a taker once his overseas contract ends.

Was never impressed with his even strength play.... Excellent PK guy but that's about it IMHO.

Before I get flammed I know that this will never happen (even though we have a lot of money coming off the books next year ) but could you ever imagine:

Parise - Richards - Gaborik
Dubinsky - Anisimov - Callahan
Kreider - Stepan - Thomas
Rupp - Boyle - Prust

*drools tremendously*

Oh one could dream.

Devils better hope Parise just wants more time to work on a deal and didn't want to go through arbitration, and will get an extension done in January...
