Not going to happen. Everyone else is improving as the Rangers have (seemingly) solidified themselves by bringing 1-C (save maybe the Flyers); it's going to be a dogfight especially in the Atlantic this year.
To put some context to it: a few years ago the Pens were scary-deep and scary-good with by Crosby & Malkin going well at the same time. They're less scary now and the Rangers are
far nearer the level of play the Pens were on a few years back, but they're also probably not as good even if they're generally a now-deeper team.
This organization has the depth now, we have a mass of guys who are coming into their own as NHLers, and more guys banging on the door. In a way it's like..wow, there's only six defenseman, seven at most, on the roster, and we have a good bunch of guys, many of which are never going to play in one of those spots if only because there's so few.
It doesn't only
look like the Rangers are a better team this year, it
feels like they are, and that's more than I can attest to any any point in the last decade of Rangers hockey.
