The eagles still have cap space available for Vick + Desean, and we've about 6-7 mill in cuttable players. We don't need to move any of our corners unless we get blown away by an offer.

At least you have one corner that knows how to tackle in Aso.

Replacing Asante with Nnamdi is a very minor upgrade if at all.
And to the guy saying Reid is a better talent evaluator, giants are without question the better drafting team.
Minor in overall talent? Maybe, but if the Eagles deal Samuels they'll have 2 man corners (Samuels is more of a zone guy as I recall). And the Giants, boys and skins aren't exactly loaded with 3rd and 4th options. I just think it makes the Eagles D much more flexible, not to take anything away from Samuels.
Meanwhile why is everyone assuiming that GB is the class of the NFC. Sure they are the defending champs, but without the Mircale of the New Meadowlands they don't even make the playoffs. They got hot at the end of the season like the '07 Giants. Look what happened to NO last season.
You guys pretty much think Cowboys/Redskins battle it out for last? Eagles/Giants division to lose? Obv the Skins are going to suck, but haven't really been paying any attention to the Cowboys moves...
Frankly I think the skins have last place locked up but I've seen stranger things happen. My personal opinion is that the boys will battle the Giants for 2nd place and a possible wild card berth with the Giants having a distinct edge.

Asomugha is the #1-2 corner in the league. Samuel is probably around 5th but you can't throw on Asomugha at all.

There's really no reason to carry 3 pro bowl calliber CBs in the NFC East. Samuels is a valuable commodity and the Eagles can easily help fill one of their holes or stockpile draft picks by dealing him.

If Kolb got DRC and a 2nd, what could Samuel get?
QBs are a different animal. That said, it looks like a steal for the Eagles right now. I hope the Eagles cardinals game will be on TV so I can see Aso vs Fitzgerald.

Let's see that when Desean holds out for another week.

There's also no reason to make a trade unless were winning the deal.

Dont think it technically gives them more flexibility.
Eagles seem to be moving from a off man zone scheme, to press man.
Both DRC and Nnamdi are press man CBs.
It gives them better starting CBs, as even if Samuel - Nnamdi are about equal, DRC is a huge upgrade over Hanson, Lindley, Hobbs, whoever else they started last season.
And I would say the giants have a pretty good group of guys at CB. Cweb is a top 15 CB (was far and away the best CB in the NFC in 08). T2 gets beat a bit, but is a very good move CB, can play slot, makes a lot of plays. Sort of a Charles Woodson light, clearly not at the same level, not saying he is, but similar style of play. T2 is also in a contract year... And lets not forget the giants also have two 1st round picks at CB, Ross, who up until now has been a disappointment, but he is in a contract year, who knows how that works out. And they just drafted Prince Amukamara, who most everyone considered a top 10 talent.
That's because opposing QBs rarely throw on Aso. He's an elite CB, no doubt, but they're going to have to trade Samuels to resign DSJ so in the grand scheme of things their CBs get an upgrade, but mostly from DRC replacing whoever else they would run at CB. Not a gigantic upgrade.
Nickel packages dont help when none of the three CBs is capable or willing to play nickel!
Im not saying take a loaf of bread for him, hes a very good player. But they are going to trade him, its a waste to keep him on the roster.
Cromartie has already said he definately be willing to play nickel
also not against trading him if it makes us better, In just arguing the " Eagles have to trade Samuel to get Jackson signed" . Also, the rest of the corner depth on the eagles is laughable.

The Jets also have a 1st round CB (Kyle Wilson) who they obviously don't trust as a starter.
Giants have a great pass rush - does that make their CBs look better than they are? Not saying the Giant CBs are bad at all but I question your rating of Webster as a top 15 corner. Scouts Inc. rates Corey Webster as a 74, tied for 30th in the league. Thomas is a 76 which is tied for 23rd. Revis and Aso are both rated 93, tied for 1st. Samuel is an 83 and DRC is an 81. The ratings may be a little dated.
Corey Webster Scouting Report - Scouts, Inc. Grade: 74
Comment: He is the most consistent corner on the team. He has a nice combination of height, size and athletic ability. He is a physical corner who uses his long arms well to jam and re-route receivers at the line of scrimmage. He can jam, flip and run with a receiver on the go route. He has to be a little careful if misses with the jam because he does not have great catch-up speed or burst when the ball is in the air. He is effective playing off and can plant and drive on three-step throws. He shows awareness to pass off receivers through zones. His ball skills are solid as he can find and locate the ball while it is in the air. He gives good effort in run support. He is not a real flashy guy but is consistent and dependable in their system
I think Prince will turn out to be a good pick but tough to expect much from a corner in his rookie year.
And what's with the Giants drafting all these guys with crazy names?
