lmao kinda iffy on New York being promoted as "under the radar", but awesome either way

EDIT: I get what they're saying though, cause he took less money.

Posted it yesterday in the OT thread but I found the subtle LeBron shots hilarious.

Well, MSG rolled out Carmelo's commercial practically overnight, so the Richards one is a bit late, but I'll cut them some slack due to it being the offseason.

MSG does great work.

And has for a very long time.

Agreed. The Melo promos even got me jacked up and I'm not into basketball quite like I am with hockey. Not that I don't like the Knicks, just not like I do the Rangers. And alot of great hitting in that '94 promo. The physicality was striking.

Very nice. And I loved that Melo commercial.

I also miss that old school Rangers opening. I will always love it.

The Intro to the 1994 Stanley Cup video gave me CHILLS.. I just light up when I hear that intro. I loved it for years. Now? Not so much. But it still means Rangers are on and I get pumped for THAT!

As for the 'Melo commercial, it was mid-season and a HUUUUUUUGE trade that brought him hear after a half season of back and fourth/back and fourth trying to get him and the nets trying to get him. So the commercial rates with the excitement he brought.

As for Brad Richards.. If he came here during that trade deadline (and we lost a lot of pieces like Newy wanted) I believe MSG would have put a big commercial up. But you have to remember ONE THING.. Melo was a New Yorker. He started his first 9 years in new york (his first years of LIFE I mean). He wanted new york. He embraced new york. He is a New Yorker at heart.

Brad Richards? Not so much. He is an awesome center and I am psyched PSYCHED to have him. But he is not a new yorker. In time? He will develop into one. But there's something different when yo GROW UP in New York. Your a different breed. Brad Richards is not that breed. So his hype to NEW YORK ITSELF is not HUGE. To US FANS of the Rangers? Big. To NEW YORK? Not so much.

I take the train whose route they were showing at 3 seconds.

I really liked the shot of BR taking a slapshot at the end.

This. I like the video, but if I never saw that Carmelo video, I would have liked it more. Knowing that they could have possibly made a video just like that one makes me dislike this video. Not that I really care though. I don't care if the video is nice or not, as long as we have Brad Richards makes me happy.

It could be a little less jokey and it'd probably be better but it really couldn't be the Melo ad. The power of that ad was in the fact that he was actually from NY and he plays a sport that is synonymous with New York City.

He was 8 when he moved to Baltimore. The whole "I AM New York" thing was overblown, imo.

Fantastic commercial, though.

Carmelo was thisclose to agreeing to trade with the Nets. The Nets new arena on Pacific Street/Atlantic Avenue/Flatbush Avenue is closer to where Melo lived until he was 8 than 7th Avenue between 31st and 33rd streets.

Yeah. I'm sure Carmelo signed here because he wanted to play at home and not because he's going to become one of the richest players in the league.

I like the little spoof of Lebron in the Richards add. "Take your talents to NY..." Well done.

As for the Carmello add; I can't stand that song. I like hip hop and all that (more underground) but after hearing that thing for like 3 days on various radio stations/MSG I was ready to throw the radio at work out the window.

And his wife played a huuuuuge role in getting him to NY, never underestimate a spouse.
