Oh well, now I go back to forgetting Plax exists. Glad he went to the Jets instead of the Eagles, though.

Sounds like the Jets are getting close with Cro. If they lock him up, and then get a pass rusher and/or TE, it will be a great offseason.

I'm ready for the initial shock and reaction when the Cro over payment comes in, but he had to be bought back, and they have the cap room. Hope they lock up David Harris long term this week.

The way this offseason has gone I figure there's two possibilities.

1) Management has some young players up their sleeve and decided that everything they need is somehow already here.

2) Someone slipped Jerry Reese a roofie.

Hopefully as soon as they can really address the OL problems, they do it. Any upcoming top end LB's or O-linemen coming to FA in the next year or two?

I don't know, I've been out of the loop since the lockout happened. There better be, because I don't wanna waltz in with holes again like we're doing this year.

I still think they could've made a push for Asomugha. I'm not thrilled with this backfield.

Doesn't matter if there are any backers in free agency. What I've come to accept is that Jerry Reese and his mentor/predecessor Ernie Accorsi do not see LB as a high priority.

I recently went back and looked at all the Giants drafts dating back to 2001. They've only selected 2 LB's in rounds 2 and 3 (Sintim and Wilkinson) and none in round 1.

Then look at the free agent signings. Arrington- past his prime. Barret Green- stunk. Kawika Mitchell- not bad, but a 1 year stop gap. Danny Clark- mediocre at best. Keith Bulluck- 1 year stop gap. Boley- average at best.

They don't think anything is a high priority except defensive line...

I'm starting to think this as well. Their gluttony for defensive linemen is starting to hurt them in the positions where they actually need help.

For instance: if they draft Markice Pouncey in 2010 instead of JPP, they then wouldn't have had to go out and spend free agent money on David Baas.

Good example. But it'll be ok, they'll just turn them into linebackers because that's worked so well

Apparently, Beatty is getting the LT spot, and Diehl is moving to LG. You've got Baas at C, and Snee at RG, with McKenzie at RT. You still have Boothe, Petrus, Koets and James Brewer, the lineman they took in the 4th round this year.

How is McKenzie still starting? I don't think he'd start on any other team.

Maybe he gets beat out by Boothe? I know they cut Andrews, but, did he sign anywhere else yet? Maybe, they're still negotiation with him?

As he was visiting with the Jets, former Ravens TE Todd Heap reached agreement with the Arizona Cardinals on a two-year deal.

Damn it.

Damn, kind of wanted Heap, but 2 years and getting the chance to play at home probably helped him make that decision.

McKenzie is arguably the best RT in the NFL. Hes easily top 3.

Cept that Baas is probably cheaper than Pouncey...

NFL is a passing league. most valuable players on defense are 1. pass rushers. 2. Cover guys

LBs (apart from 3-4 OLB) are usually not major pass defense components.

Sounds like most of it is guaranteed cash, which was the opposite of the Giants were thinking about for him. I don't think the Giants ever even had a real offer in for him since Tom did not want him at all.

The contract plax signed with the giants before he went to prison had less guaranteed money than the Jets just gave him....

I'm shocked that they guaranteed 3M, but it's not my money. I figured any team that signed him would be giving him VERY little guaranteed.

In addition. I'd like another TE. Ben Hartsock left, so we could use another for two TE sets.

Keller is more of a WR anyway. Definitely not a prototypical TE.

Giants fan here who hopes Plax does great. Easy target for Sanchez.
