Isles-Kings(not doughty)

To NYI: Jack Johnson

To LA: Josh Bailey or Blake Comeau, Calvin de Haan 1st rd pick

To much? To little? What are some thoughts?

On a side note, If the vote passes tomorrow, who else thinks a trade will happen on Tuesday or Wednesday? I think the trade for a defensemen is definitely going to happen just matter of when. I would imagine if it fails, probably won't happen right away.

I'd like to get Matt Greene for less.

That's an awful lot.

Johnson just hasn't impressed me that much.

I dunno. Bailey, Comeau, de Haan and a 1st is a over-payment for Johnson. I mean he's good, but that package is hovering on a Doughty level.

For argument sake it was Bailey OR Comeau. As for the deal, if it's a 2013 first rounder I would think about it.

Not even when he was in the Olympics last year?

Overpayment, coming from someone who watches a lot of Kings hockey. JJ is good but he'll never be a #1 which is what this type of package should get.

What you say was fair value for him?

Lol hahah no, I just know alot of people over value the trade value of players here on HF so I went with the norm. That is why I said to much or too little to get a gauge. I would think 1 of Bailey/Comeau de Haan and a 1st is probably along the lines of what Lombardi would want in return for Johnson. If it's both Comean and Bailey he better be coughing up Doughty.

In fairness to you, I didn't catch the "OR" between Bailey and Comeau. But I still don't think I;d do it. I think Jack Johnson is a really good defenseman, but I think the Islanders are going to be a team that will be built on the sum of its parts.

It's a bad fit. They were a bottom team for awhile, but have finally turned the corner, made the playoffs, and added Richards to boost their chances. They want to compete for the Cup next year, no doubt.

In terms of defense, trading JJ for that package would leave a massive hole in their lineup. Teubert's gone and Hickey isn't impressing many people - he's still 22 but I just don't see him being an impact player. Muzzin looks solid, as does Forbort, but both aren't ready to be minute-eaters next season. Mitchell, Scuderi, and Greene are all veterans - even Greene at the ripe old age of 28. If OP's deal went down, they simply wouldn't have the defense to contend in a stacked West. DeHaan isn't going to step in and provide top-4 minutes, neither will a 2013 1st.

The Richards deal showed me, as a secondary Kings fan, that this team is tired of waiting for all their shiny draft picks (Teubert, Hickey, Schenn, even Bernier) to suddenly become impact players, because they want to win the Cup ASAP. Trading Johnson without getting someone who can eat his minutes would put them right back to square one - waiting for DeHaan and a 2013 1st to be ready. I just don't see that happening.

DeHaan was awesome in last years camp and was a final cut. I don't want to see him going anywhere. He keeps his head up, his shots seem to always find the net through traffic. I don't package him in any deal to be honest. Comeau and Bailey can go whenever they want. Ziggy, you have a case of Bud Light, let's make the trade!

I think you can go more with
Bailey, Donovan, and a pick
or
Comeau, and a first
