Big WTF to people shrugging off racist remarks by saying lots of people do it. Don't come around and try to justify this, wrong is wrong, no matter how many funny jokes you know.

One player complained 8 years ago ... and there goes your credibility...

The fact he was one of the first professional athletes to stand up and make a public statement on behalf of gay rights makes this worse? We all know he has said and done some stupid things, but your complete hatred of the man makes any further debate with you on this topic rather pointless.

You are talking about tolerance, and you are completely intolerant.

If I'm jumping the gun on the racial remarks comment, than everyone else should who claim that any of this isn't true. He needs to show some professionalism and respect. There is a reason why he's the most hated player in the league, and it's not because he's the best.

Could you imagine the stuff they used to say in the 60s/70s/80s? PC is ruining everything.
Agreed. Everyone is so damn sensitive. Oh boo hoo Sean Avery called someone a *enter racial slur here* big freakin' deal. Get over it.

We have Prust. I enjoyed the Sean Avery side show while we weren't very competitive. Now that this team looks like it can start getting serious about competing for the Cup, its time for Sean Avery to exit stage right...

Is anyone really shocked about this? Things said on the ice aren't meant to leave the ice. It's situational. I bet most people wouldn't talk to their boss the way they talk to their friends. Avery has a role and he plays it. Nothing more and nothing less.

He is hardly a locker room cancer, far from it. He doesnt play the same type of game as he used to and thus his play has dropped. He doesnt agitate like he used to because the NHL is watching him. And thats his fault for making a public statement towards Phaneuf about him getting his "sloppy seconds." He had to go to rehab and it took awhile before he got back to the NHL.

You can't possibly be shocked by this. If you are then you arent that serious of a hockey/ranger fan because its pretty well known what avery does on the ice, maybe not the specifics as to what he says/has said in the past but you just know.

I wouldnt be surprised either if the russian newspaper misquoted Frolov on the subject.

And I dont think avery should be a ranger because of his diminished game, not because of his antics which have unfortunately become almost non-existent.

Chances are, it probably still does. I mean Sean Avery really hasn't changed as a player the past few years, he probably even got better in the 'agitating' department.

I never knew you played in the NHL? Who do you play for? What number do you wear? How exactly do you, or any of us for that matter, know what Avery has said on the ice? That's the problem. Everyone has their ***** hurt because Avery may or may not have made a profound remark during a game. They spend too much time obsessing over it. People either need to grow the ****** up, or get a life and not care about what happens out there. This is hockey, not tennis.

All signs have pointed to Avery calming down lately. Whether this is good or not is up for debate to some people, as it can be said he is way more useful when he is up to his antics. This stuff happened YEARS ago.

Didn't Avery and Frolov appear together on an MSG Summer show last year shortly after Frolov signed? The reason they appeared together was that they were good friends? A little strange, that Frolov would say anything negative.

After what happened with the whole "sloppy seconds" situation do you really think he's using racial slurs now? He's not that stupid.

If you really think he hasnt changed in the past few years then you havent been watching him play. Your basing your view of him off of the player he was 5 years ago.

I changed the title, since Frolov himself disputes the story.

Sounds to me like the paper took the old story about Avery and fused it with a Frolov interview to make a story.

This. That newspaper is translated from Russian and most likely misinterperated. God knows who got a hold of it and changed up the words a bit. Anyone could do that. All they need is a computer.

No idea why people are crying over his remarks. Its his role. How else are you suppose to get a guy to go after you and take a stupid penalty?

Im a bigger fan of Avery now then I was before. However, Tortorella is not a coach for Sean. He needs a change of scenery.

I have to agree and support you on your comment. I'm not writing specifically about Sean Avery here -- I can't condemn him for something that may or may not have happened 8 years ago, and for all his faults, I don't think Avery is an intolerant or prejudiced person.

That said, racist epithets, for whatever reason, on the ice or off, are unacceptable. If you want to say Avery didn't do it, that's one thing, but to say he does and that's OK is just plain wrong.

Dont know what Avery said - dont really care.

Bottom line is this is the sort of stupidity that drives conversations about Sean Avery; it highlights what a completely inconsiquential hockey player he has become, especially over the last 2 years.

An agitator being agitating? Is this really news? What the heck did people think Avery was chirping about on the ice? What do you think other agitators are saying?

In other news, the sun rose this morning, and the sky is blue.

Sorry to ruin your day, but it looks like Avery didnt use racial slurs.

But perhaps he could blow up a building for you in the near future.
