what if rebranding takes vs in another direction? what if they tone down the hockey for basketball and baseball to go more mainstream? we'd lose the only station that actually covers hockey nationally (besides nhl network). i like being able to watch a ramdom no flyers natchup on monday and tuesday! hockey is the only sport i watch! btw timonen for captain.

Considering the contract that the NHL just inked with NBC, I'm not particularly concerned.

Yeah, it's in NBC's best interest to have more hockey coverage.

They need to diversify to challenge ESPN+ABC and FOX.

I wonder if they'll change announcers.

It was funny for awhile but:

"Bob Boucher"

and "Claude Vanrinmdine" have to go.

This is great news IMO. With NBC as the brand, all those providers that refuse to pay Versus and make it a "specialty channel" will pay NBC to get that as a "regular channel". They might bump up the base package price, but for me.....more hockey, more sports. We can't get ESPN in Canada as they are affiliated with TSN, so with this new channel we now get hockey on TSN, Sportsnet (Central, East, Pacific, Ottawa, etc), NBC, NBCSports, RDS, etc. I figure eventually, 24 hours per day I will be able to turn on my TV and see hockey. And that, makes me happy.

P.S. **** you ESPN. I hope they regret the day they "decided" hockey was not a big 5 sport and almost singlehandedly killed hockey in the United States. Now it is bigger than ever.
