I've watched Wells play for years and he can be frustrating. At times it seemed like he had all the tools to be one of the best outfielders in baseball but just couldn't play with enough consistency over the years. He's traded good years with bad years for the last 3-4 seasons so there's hope he rebounds. The guy has a lot of talent and was fun to watch in his prime but as a Jays fan but I'm thankful that a team with more money took his salary off our shoulders. I still wish him well and hope he rebounds!

Yeah, that was always the issue with Vernon as a Jay. When he's hot, he's really, really good.

The Angels really have a fine young player in Trumbo. His stance reminds me a lot of former Jay and Angel, Troy Glaus.

Great job by Santana. He needs to pitch to his potential. Hopefully this performance leads him into the right direction.

We're gonna need a lot of great pitching since we truly can't hit consistently. Awesome job by Santana.

Was a crazy turn of events that got him the suspension; Guillen hit a HR then kinda taunted Weaver, then Weaver threw a high and in pitch at Avila's head.

That's why I always prefer hockey's way of settling conflicts, if I could I would have slugged Guillen before he got to first base. First Basemen Enforcers?

Eh, six games sucks, but in reality it's only one start. Not too big of a deal.

I knew already what happened but thanks. I was pissed at SIX games, but since he will miss only one start it's not that bad after all...

So Reagins didn't do nothing in the trade deadline but Rangers did... will be interesting to see this race...

Any word on Morales' situation atm?

It's kinda hard to do anything for the Organization with all the money the Org owes. We're still paying for GMJr and Kazmir. Also, we owe a lot of money to Vernon Wells. There's no need to make yet another albatross salary a part of the Angels org for the sake of doing something. Sad.

As for Morales, no new news. But first base seems to be a great at depth if Morales recovers. Right now, rookie 1B Trumbo leads the teams in HR (21?) and RBI's. Our first round draft pick this year is in OREM (rookie ball) and is hitting homers like crazy! In 32 games, he leads the Pioneer league in HR's (13) and RBI's (41). He's also had a couple of multiple game HR's.

If anything, we could package one of the 1B-men and Vernon Wells for slugging catcher or 3B. By getting rid of Wells' contract, the Angels can save money and make a bigger splash with bringing Trout up full time at LF.

Bleah. But I stand by my comment earlier in this thread, "We're gonna need a lot of great pitching since we truly can't hit consistently."

No one is touching Wells contract unless an equally bad one is coming back the other way, and honestly there may not be a worse contract in MLB.

One of the worst trades in recent memory. Even worse because the Angels don't have a major league caliber catcher on the roster and Napoli is hitting .300 and will end up with 25+ HR for our biggest rivals.

Nice to see him finally pitching to his potential. He's always had the talent to be a top-tier pitcher, he just lacked the consistency and mental fortitude.

Trumbo should win MVP for carrying the Angels' anemic offense! And he makes pennies to Wells' albatross contract. Crazy! And to think, Mike Trout could have been progressing as a Major Leaguer and still be hitting better than Wells.

Trumbo needs to be batting cleanup.

Also, other news, Napoli liked learning from Sosh, but hated the environment that Sosh was depicting. Like all of us were wondering, why trade Napoli instead of Mathis? At least Napoli could play 1st base or DH outside of catcher. Because right now, I think this is how our rookie catcher, Hank Conger, must be feeling. He's hitting better than both Angels' catchers (Mathis and Wilson), but it's his defense that he feels as if he's walking on egg shells. At AAA, Conger is back to hitting over .300 and knocking in HR's. Crazy!

Maybe Sosh needs to re-evaluate himself and the catching position for his catchers to flourish than flounder.

The problem with Napoli is that he really isn't a catcher. He's a good enough hitter, but we're pretty stacked at 1B/DH as it is. Mathis sucks offensively, but can actually call a game, which is why he was kept and Napoli was dealt. Sucks he ended up on a division rival, but it is what it is. Really hoping Conger develops into a guy who can actually catch as opposed to a guy who is able but really shouldn't.
