This guy had a great you on the pittsburgh farm team a few years ago, although this time I have to assume he will get a one way contract with the way he has been playing these last couple of years.

Does pittsburgh still own his rights, or is he free to sign with whoever he wants?

Anyway I still believe he can be productive in the NHL. When he actually suited up for the Pens, he played 3 minutes a night on the 4th line. For a guy that set records in Wilkes-Barre, he didn't get a chance to prove himself.

A Finnish skater looking to break out in the NHL?

Send him to Carolina.

He's ridiculously soft and not a great skater, I don't see him making the NHL full time.

That was also THE summer hit in Finland back in 2005 or 2006.

Pretty much this.

Put him on a line with Crosby and he'll pot 30 goals, though

A lot of people were complaining that he didn't crack the top 6 in any of his call ups. It's kind of hard to move a guy up the line up when he falls down every shift. People didn't even need to hit him, it's was like just the idea that there might be contact at some point was enough to knock him over.

Nope, he ainīt ridiculously soft and he skates just fine. Leino falls down much easier.

He could do much better if he get even little bit better chance than you gave him at Pens. You gave no chance at all, 3 mins at 4th line

Leino? The guy who protects the puck well and is pretty good at boards and makes these spin-o-ramas?

Or did you perhaps mean Jay Leno?

I don't know why fans have such a hard time with this but: Sometimes a guy just stinks. He isn't any good. This is an easy one.

I watched him play about 30 games in the regular season and some in the playoffs for Wilkes-Barre, he's got pretty good vision and he thinks the game pretty well, but he doesn't stand out from a ton of other guys who put up big numbers in the AHL and couldn't make the next step. Jeff Taffe scored 75 points that year and played a much better all around game, you don't see anyone pencilling him into their top six. Chris Minard scored 57 in 54 games and he was lighting it up before he got called to Pittsburgh.

In the playoffs versus Hersey he got ragdolled every time he went after a loose puck. Eventually he just stopped trying and let the defensemen get to the puck and clear it. Hershey players were laughing at him and chirping him the whole time.

He's not physical, he doesn't have a great shot and he's an average skater a best. That's next exactly the recipe for success. Bigger defensemen gave him fits, and that was in the AHL, where things are a step slower.

He didn't get a ton of ice time here in the NHL, but he struggled with what time he did get. He didn't give the coaches any reason to play him more. He looked completely lost and he was a liability even in limited minutes.

I could see the Ducks signing him. We need a 3rd liner. Does Pittsburgh still own his rights?

No. Although, the Ducks might be better off signing a different player for the third line. He's lacking in the strength department.

It based on the disproven theory that an average player paired with Crosby would explode into a star.
