That's not a credible media-connected rumor mill. that's a guy with a blog. I could say right here that there's a rumor that Vlasic will be traded for Joel Ward and a draft pick, but I'm just some dude on a message board with no media connections.

White's relatively old, slow and on a one-year contract. Why trade Vlasic? It might happen but I won't like it. What happens next year when White leaves? The defense looks a little thin again. Not to mention I'm not that convinced Vandermeer is more than a 6th defenseman, so is it really that bad if he plays as a number 7?
Vlasic would be traded to replenish their offensive depth. He can be easily replaced on the FA market next July. Brad Stuart, Willie Mitchell, Tim Gleason, Fedor Tyutin, Josh Gorges, Greg Zanon and Nicklas Grossman are all impending UFAs and all of them are better than Vlasic. And then of course there's Ryan Suter but I wouldn't hold my breath for the Sharks to win that sweepstakes.
Congrats - you got a hell of a Dman there for a bargain price. 80% of the Devils fans are sad to see him go. Some will argue but I would say he was our best Dman start to finish last season. Stay at home - no flash and not a risk taker but solid and one of the few guys who will clear the crease these days. A booming shot but rarely uses it (Brodeur was quoted as saying White has one of the hardest shots on the Devils some years back).
The only downside to his game is when he gets fired up he will chase a check out of position and possibly leave an odd man rush behind him. Vision is not an issue now - don't believe the "blind" jokes and whatnot. He used to fight prior to the eye issue but now he can't without risking permanent vision loss. Oh and he's not fast by any means which makes his positioning all the more important.
Colin's a great soldier too - will take orders and not ask twice. Wish him the best with your already solid Defense corps.
is colin white any good? dont know anything about him
devils fan here:
colin white is still solid, he is slotted as your 6 man you are in good shape. he plays well in his own end. he doesn't hit as much anymore, cannot make a cross ice pass and can't skate with it.
he can kill penalties, still decent and a good deal at 1 million for 1 year. certainly if he is a depth guy for you it says lots about your defense. he at times was the devils best defensman last season
I could see Moore+Braun being packaged together for a 2nd liner that would play 3rd line.
But Murray is Boyles partner, its unlikely they want to get rid of him.
that's not a good package for a 2nd liner. i can't see a team taking that.
and Burns just talked about being on the same side as Murray and Clowe, so i agree there. it's unlikely that either is moved. (if he had some inside info, of course).

Oh god please tell me this is true. That's exactly the move this team needs.
No rumour...Colin White is definitely a San Jose Shark
and just so you guys know - this poster is legit. should he chime in with info - pay attention he is family with Colin. Doesn't post often, but when he does it's usually good info.
Props to him for inside scoops over the past few years.
I'd be perfectly fine with Vlasic for Comeau + good forward prospect.
I'd be perfectly fine with Vlasic for Comeau straight up. A rugged power forward entering his prime who scored 24 goals last year playing for the freaking Islanders.
You guys are going to love White. He's played top-4 minutes in New Jersey since the lockout. Sometimes on the top pair. He's been our most consistent guy for awhile.
His defensive partner last year was a revolving door. He started paired with rookie Matt Taormina and made him look good.
Tallinder was awful in the 1st half. He was paired with White and looked very good.
In our excellent 2nd half, White often found himself paired with Volchenkov. No one could get through that pairing. As good a shutdown unit as there was in the 2nd half.
If he's going to be on your 3rd pairing this year, you guys are looking extremely good. A tremendous signing. He's far from flashy. No offense but will make a great defensive play for you when it's needed.
