Tracking the Hits Leaders

Quote:
After looking at real-time NHL stats like giveaways and takeaways, and acknowledging the possible inaccuracies that come with a judgment-based statistic, the next one to tackle is hits.
Quote:
Among players that played at least 25 games, then, here are the 50 forwards with the most hits per 60 minutes of even strength play:

19. Patrick Kaleta Buffalo RW 125 (ES Hits) 28877 (ES TOI) 15.58 (Hits per 60 Mins)

Here are the 25 forwards with the fewest hits per 60 minutes of even strength play (minumum 25 games):

401. Tim Connolly Buffalo C 16 (ES Hits) 50431 (ES TOI) 1.14 (Hits per 60 mins)

Pretty much. To be able to google "Connolly" and "hit" and find one article with both included is a sight to please (for TC).

At least Brian Burke can take some solace in one stat validating his assertion that Connolly is "Brad Richards-lite": Richards is 4 spots higher on the list than Connolly.

I wish they would have included a table with adjusted hit statistics as well, which attempt to weight based on rink bias. Neither statistic is anywhere near perfect but comparing them side by side is more useful than either alone.

Actually, that's pretty easy.

(Player x) laid a huge hit on Connolly.
