JT Miller Invited to USA's U-20 WJC Camp

http://www.usahockey.com/Template_Us...1_06&id=304966

Quote:
Also attending the camp will be seven members of the U.S. Men's National Under-18 Team that captured gold last April at the 2011 IIHF World Men's U18 Championship in Crimmitschau and Dresden, Germany, including defensemen Seth Jones (Plano, Texas), Connor Murphy (Dublin, Ohio) and Robbie Russo (Westmont, Ill.); and forwards Tyler Biggs (Cincinnati, Ohio), Reid Boucher (Grand Ledge, Mich.), Rocco Grimaldi (Rossmoor, Calif.) and J.T. Miller (East Palestine, Ohio).
I'm a bit late on it, so I'm surprised it hasn't been posted here yet. He is one of 40 skaters invited to the camp. Hopefully he'll make it, would love to see him. Also, Kreider doesn't turn 21 until next April, so how come he isn't listed? wtf, am I missing something?

Both Miller and McColgan got invites. I hope both make it. Hopefully Yogan will tear up the OHL in the first-half of the season and get an invite to the team as well.

Miller should make it. McColgan could be a darkhorse. Kreider is probably ineligible, no?

Miller and McColgan were invited to the camp two months ago.

Kreider is too old.

The Canadian camp is starting today. Thomas is there. McIlrath wasn't invited.

Kreider is ineligible, that is correct.

Yogan
McColgan
Miller
Fogarty

Those are the players, I believe, who are eligible for the US team.

Thomas and Mcilrath are eligible for team Canada.

Ceresnak for Slovakia.

Doesn't the U-20 part mean "Under 20"?

I could've sworn U-20 meant 20 and under. When I used to play Travel Soccer in the Long Island Junior Soccer League, When I was 14, we played U-14, when I was 13, we played U-13, when I was 12, we played U-12, when I was 11, we played U-11 and I was one of the older kids on the team, my b-day is in January. So I was always under the impression that it means the same age and a year younger. Like U-20 is 20 and 19, U-18 is 18 and 17.

Hopefully... Would be great to see him play on the international stage in December against the best competition in his age group.

Hopefully they play more team oriented than they did last year.

Ech, was not a big fan of that incarnation of the team.

Yeah, last year was a mess. I felt bad for Campbell. Is he eligible to play this year?

Yeah I too was disappointed with their style last year.

Hoping for a little more tight structure and attention to detail this year. More team unity.

Birthday is January 1992

He should be good which is GREAT news for the US team

Campbell is a monster - my favorite non-Rangers prospect

Last years team reminded me of my high school hockey team, ton of talent in comparison to the rest, but we weren't as good as expected because we had a drunken retard as a coach.

The 2010 team reminded me of my travel teams, not as skilled, but we did very well because we had chemistry and were very well coached.

Basically Keith Allain had no business coaching that team.

I could totally get flamed for this but I didn't find Coyle to be as impressive as I see people making him out to be at this point...last years US WJC team was weird. He was pretty good but I didn't exactly see skills that impressed me at that level, but no now everyone thinks "oh man Coyle was the best US player what a stud"

Absolutely.

He had a few good games against very weak competition and disappeared against the better teams. Not in a way like Palmieri or D'Amigo, where there dangles wouldn't work and they pussied out, but his skill was defended much better. He was one of the best playmakers on the team however, and he played a team game, which was refreshing for that team. I think Kreider was better over all.

You mention last years team being weird, how did Merrill win best defenseman? He along with Forbort and a few others were very very average. I thought Faulk was the best defenseman.

I think it will be tough, but he'll have a shot. No slight on him, but Canada is just that deep in terms of options. I wouldn't be surprised at all if he didn't make the cut, especially considering he isn't as well rounded as some of the other guys he will be competing against.

Palmieri playing like it was a pond hockey game against 10 year olds, D'Amigo forgetting how to skate and missing his buddy Stepan, Nick Leddy....well just flat out sucking. All rounded together by Keith Allain. There plenty more problems as well. The fact they got a bronze shows how talented the team was.

Coyle was the best forward on the US team, IMO.

Palmieri and D'Amigo....ugh.

Hopefully McColgan and Miller make the team. It's nice that they got invited. Maybe if they don't make it, they'll use it as motivation. Either way, getting invited to the practice is great for both.

Miller should make it. He played for the US development team in Ann Arbor,Michigan. Miller was best player for the US in the under 18 WJC in the spring. Miller should have a very good season in the OHL. Plymouth was a better option for JT. He is familiar with the Michigan area. It's closer to home than North Dakota. Miller is also $277,500 richer. Mike Vellucci is really high on him. The Rangers have spoken to Vellucci on his plans for Miller.

McColgan needs to have a really good start to his season.

Mike Sullivan will be assisting team USA at the WJC camp. The Rangers will have someone watching the WJC camp in Lake Placid.
