I think you'll see Blake, Liles, and Brisebois on seperate defensive pairings except on the power play. Those three will be paired up with Vaananen, Skrastins and either Boughner/Leschyshyn/Sauer. How those pairing end up is still a bit of a mystery but if I had to guess I'd go with the following...
I have been thinking about this all night. I have no idea where Brisebois will play, or what can be done with our D right now. I too am purplexed.
Yea with the D we have, it seems as though the best choice would be to put a defensive guy, with Blake, Breezy, and Liles since all three are lacking in their own zone to a certain extent. Unfortunately that would mean either Brisebois, or Liles will get 3rd pairing minutes, and that doesn't seem like a good situation. Maybe the PP time, will help offset that though.
I've read the true ratings of our D thread too, and between what I read and what I have seen Q do these last two games I have moved back and forth the D lines more than once. About the only thing I see as a given is Straskins - Blake. One thing I can say is the year off since I last saw Vaananen I think he is better.
Well, Detroit rolled out the Grand Rapids Griffins. Nary a veteran...bad, bad luck for the Wings that one of, what THREE regular season locks playing tonight gets a potentially serious injury. And he wasn't even supposed to play tonight. Did not like to see that.
May got the fans to stop booing, played with some passion bordering on madness, but unlike Boughner, didn't take stupid penalties. I'll say it again, I won't boo him, but we simply don't need him. He played his heart out to try and win over the fans though, and I'll give him credit there.
Kono and Tangs on the PK? BRILLIANT!!!
IF the power play can at least get to middle-of-the-road status, then that's fine so long as the PK remains brilliant.
A weak 1st followed by an energetic and physical 2nd and 3rd.
I hope LaCouture and Cleary make the team. They're easy to hate.
Some good things to take from this game. Keep it up!
Oh, and Sandy Clough in the postgame echoed what we've been saying for a while--Boughner's likely gone.
