He must be bought out or it doesn't make sense. He's still signed for another year and it's 1-way. Nashville is paying his $1.4mil even if they keep him in a music studio's washroom.
And I still think they could've gotten rid of Lombardi without getting rid of Franson or at least gotten something better. Burke can be fool at times and a ****ing magician at others.
Poile isn't the type of GM to jump into a trade without exhausting all other options first. Trust us on this.
I would expect a d-man signing, otherwise this ultra thin blueline is going to cost NSH a playoff spot.
This year's defense will be much more talented than last years no matter which 2 of the four rookies make it.
Blum improved that 2nd pairing by leaps and bounds.
Josi is as good as Blum and at worst can easily replace Franson. O'Brien will easily be replaced by Ekholm or Laakso either one.
The Predators have so many top defensive prospects that are ready to go, our defense will not be "thin", what it might lack in experience it will far make up for in talent. Besides, Weber and Suter play 25-30 a game, 2nd pairing will play near 20 minutes a game leaving little playing time for the bottom pairing.
Ellis could also make the team as a pp specialist.
However, in the event that a Club has only one salary arbitration hearing pursuant to Section 12.3(a) in a given League Year, such Club shall not be entitled to exercise such a buyout outside the regular period for Ordinary Course Buy-Outs.

Once again, they dumped 7 million uninsured dollars and all they gave up is a defenseman who needs to make major adjustments in his game to become top 4 quality and is highly redundant in their system with Blum and Ellis knocking on the door. Would you sign Franson for 2 years 4 million per? I'd guess not.

But its not 4m a season for Franson.
Lombardi should be ready to play this season.
Why are they waiving Lebda? The guy has to play for Nashville this season just so they can play his theme song while he's on the ice. I know the video in the link is marked as somebody else's theme, but believe me, it's Brett Lebda's.

People are allowed to have an opinion different from yours about your team. Not every prospect/rookie works out and having that much inexperience on your blueline could be a big mistake.
According to HFboards fans, no team has any holes on it whatsoever and any prospect penciled into a lineup can "easily" replace or surpass what departed players did.
I'm guessing it doesn't always work out that way in real life.

Doesn't matter. You can still use the buyout period if you settle early. That happened with NJ they settled with both Parise and Fraser and still got an additional buyout period.

That's what BB was wondering. Only Weber went, and that's all it took for 12.3(a)

You can't really be a Preds fan.. First, Franson didn't help our defensive game at all, second he was not a top 4 defenseman at any point with the Predators, third, Blum has already stepped in and replaced Franson.
