Gudbranson with a big hit.

Is it just me, or does Tyler Bunz react a little slowly? I'm guessing he's a fully positional goalie?

Smith-Pelly too. He's playing for keeps. Laying the body real well.

I'm surprised this isn't being played on TV. TSN has CFL on so I understand that. But why not TSN2? The TSN guys are there.

Yeah, not too sure. It really should be.

I like having RNH on the same line as Smith-Pelly. Obviously not the smartest player out there, and a total meat and potatoes kind of guy(from what I've seen in this game so far). Let's see what RNH can do as he's supposed to be able to make his line-mates better.

Team red scored first. I think it was Oleksiak.

About 30 seconds later, Thomas scores a goal for team White.

1-1

Great second effort from Thomas to tie it up. Going down and still puts it away.

I'm liking what I'm seeing outta DSP. Plays a simple game but plays full of energy.

Given everything Ive seen of RNH so far I gotta say he reminds me of a Sam Gagner
plus
-More Speed
-Much Better BackChecking
-Makes similar passing plays but seems to do it quicker

thats not so much from tonight..but from past games, and a few instances tonight..
He should grow a mullet..would go great with his skating style

Not going to lie. Kind of floated. Got into a few battles, but nothing exciting. Smith-Pelly is really the only difference maker on that line so far.

Invisible, unfortunately.

So far, Couturier, Smith-Pelley, Visentin and Connolly have looked good to me.

I was actually really impressed by RNH's PKing, too bad his team mate wasn't on the same page as him.

Couturier and Smith-Pelley have been good physically, Connolly looked good driving the net and Vis is playing well in goal.

What have you seen?

Apparently the same game as me. I agree with the Visentin and Smith-Pelly notes.

RNH has been pretty hard to spot out there so far but whatever, it's only been 20.

Hopkins has been at all the right places..trying to cause turnovers..backchecking like crazy (as always)
nothing flashy offensively..just a few short, clever passes..

But his skating is definitely very noticable..with the terrible stream quality and unable to see jersey numbers without special camera angles..its easy to pick him apart from other players..he looks different than almost everyone else..mainly faster..

Now Murphy..damn, hes fast as well..

Oleksiak has a cannon..

Gudbrandson is hitting everything, as is Smith-Pelly..

Sweet goal by Thomas..great 3rd effort..

Bunz has been very solid..

Bunz started off really rusty but made some big saves, battling out there too

Ah, I'll agree with this RNH summary. It seems as though when he's been on the ice, it's been a lot of mid ice play(aka turn-overs at the red line). He's done pretty well at being the first on the forecheck and first on the backcheck. It's just been very uninteresting hockey so far. Smith-Pelly is really standing out on their line though.

I will echo what some others have said, RNH pretty much floated in that period and was largely invisible but so was most of the offensive players for both sides.
It's been a physical, defensive game thus far. Bunz looked solid although he probably should have done better with the Oleksiak goal, in his defense he might have been screened though.

I wouldn't go as far as saying he floated. He just hasn't done anything overly noticeable. Solid positional play and won some faceoffs.

Man does Couturier have a weird stride. Below average lateral movements.

I caught the end of the 1st and I have to agree about Smith Pelley. Its starting to make me wonder if matching a similar type player (big body, physical) on RNH's line long term would be a good idea. As of now the Oil don't really have that type of guy aside from Hartikanen. Its a shame all the Oil's depth is on the LW.

Also I think the more we watch RNH's game the more we're going to come away with the impression he floats. He isn't physical in that he outmuscles people off the puck, so it will seem like he's 'floating'. Its good he's on team white so he can go against most of the top D which are playing for red.

Bunz looked composed and solid in the 2nd half of the 1st. Was he shakey off the bat?
