Interesting... a 9th overall pick gone bad; a 3rd round pick is quite a lot for his production. I guess DW is hoping he will blossom as a great 3rd liner. He missed an entire year because of a ****ed up knee during an ATV ride.

Or maybe he is a 4th line addition/sending McGinn to the AHL?

The same dumb look Sheppard always has on his face is the very same look I have on mine right now. He's not the third line savior everyone was hoping for.

Good depth for the 3rd line.

DW must have Fletcher at the top of his speed dial.

Does DW and Fletcher have a bromance going? This is getting creepy.

I guess we needed a replacement for Heatley's 15 Though technically, he's 51 right now.

Every store now needs a motion activated sound clip that says "I'm James Sheppard and this is my favorite store in the Pavilion"

It's still might be a 4th line signing:

Mitchell-Handzus-X
Sheppard-Desjardins-Murray

And have McGinn/Ferriero/McCarthy replace either three if something happens plus Mitchell. But knowing DW, he probably expects him to have a breakout year, like he did with Huskins.

He has no contract. His last year's contract was one-way.

He's a center. Why the hell do we need another center? DW was batting almost 1000% so far aside from not finding a 3rd liner yet and now he does this?

Take this advice from a Wild fan, prepare for a whole lot of nothing from him.

I don't know anything about him. Can you tell me why he was a top 10 pick? He must have some skills right? Is he a playmaker?

So if we send Minnesota our Pepsi Max Tank Patrol, do you think they'd give us Nordy? What if we throw in Dancing Camera Man and a pick?

2007-08: completely dominates in some CHL preseason games and gets an NHL deal...plays for Lemaire on the 4th line and limited minutes, very snake bit offensively. Work ethic is questioned and he clashes with Lemaire some.

2008-09: plays third line center and does a decent job, but still not looking like a 1st round talent...obviously lost all confidence offensively and tries to play a more physical game, which isn't impressive.

2009-10: new coach and fresh start, he looks pretty bad most of the year, slow foot speed, no offensive ability, can hold the puck decently on the boards but that's about it, lots of time in the press box.

2010-11: lots of talk in the offseason about needing to prove himself, signs a 1-year deal, and then injures himself on an ATV before training camp...spends the entire year injured and then rehabbing after getting surgery on his knee.

My outlook is that he's going to have to really dedicate himself to become a bottom six player in the NHL. Poor foot speed combined with a serious knee injury doesn't give me confidence. He was supposed to be one of the smartest players in his draft year, but never showed it. Seems like the game passed him by. Not much to speak of offensively either. Good size though.
Dude is slow. FML.

Here is a quote from a Wild fan that should sum him up nicely for you guys.

Only 11 goals in over 200 games... yeesh.

He's still only 23, he's not completely gone yet. Not high hopes either.
