Hockey Documentaries?

Anybody know of any good hockey documentaries to watch? I watched one tonight, and figure there are probably some really good ones out there.

Would prefer history based ones, but anything will do.

Thanks.

The ones I've really liked are:

Do you Believe In Miracles: The Story of the 1980s US Mens Hockey Team
24/7: Road to the Winter Classic
Hockey: A People's History
... and the great 4 disc dvd set that is: Legends of Hockey (they are listed on youtube under each players name. Amazing series)

Its older but The Boys on the Bus is pretty good, it follows the Oilers in the 1986-87 season.

Good memories for us frustrated older Oiler fans

Definitely Hockey: A People's History.

Covers hockey from it's earliest beginnings to the present day.

Yeah, that's what I was going to suggest. I don't think it's on youtube, and you'd most likely have to buy it.

There's this excellent swedish documentary about the soviet national team called CCCP Hockey. They focus mostly on the eighties era. I believe it's up on youtube, but I'm not sure if there are english subtitles or not.

24/7: Road to the Winter Classic

Apparently, HBO plans on continuing with the 24/7 series as well, but I can't seem to find the article.

If you like the "road" to the NHL have a look at Junior.

And this one I just found looks interesting:

Becoming Wild (2011)

Don't think you will be interested but it's really interesting as a Wild fan especially knowing Mike Yeo and the Wild staff/prospects/players more. Such a perfect timing to make a documentary involving the Wild.

It's like 24/7 and Oil Change.

There isn't a great wealth of good hockey documentaries unfortunately, most of the ones worth seeing have already been mentioned in this thread.

I highly recommend the previously mentioned Broad Street Bullies, Junior and the 24/7 series as well as the two Hockey Nomad documentaries that can be found on youtube.

I remember I saw that documentary years ago, it was very good. A quick google suggests that SVT have a version with English language narration and subtitles, but I doubt that version is available anywhere on the internet.

That 30 for 30 documentary was very good. I recommend watching it if you can.

King's Ransom is very good. Net Worth is a terrific hockey movie about Ted Lindsay and the start of the NHLPA. It's not a documentary, but it's pretty much a biopic of Ted and his battles with the greedy NHL owners and GM's of his time. While they aren't really historic in nature , Pond Hockey is decent and In The Crease which follows the California Wave bantam team is very good too.

There's a new documentary about Chris Nilan that is coming out soon.

From http://paranoidpuck.wordpress.com/20...y-documentary/

Quote:
When you think of the Toronto International Film Festival, hockey fights dont come to mind right away, but this year, that will change. Oscar winning director Alex Gibney (Taxi To The Dark Side, Enron: The Smartest Guys In The Room) will debut his new documentary, The Last Gladiators at TIFF. The 2011 TIFF runs from September 8 through September 18.

The Last Gladiators focuses on the story of former NHL tough guy Chris Nilan. In addition to Nilan, Tony Twist, Marty McSorely and Donald Brashear are among those also featured. The movie does not yet have a national distributor so the hope is that the film will gain some partners once it debuts at TIFF.
It sounds pretty cool from the description on the website. I'm always shocked that there's not more hockey documentaries out there. Seems like it's a missed opportunity especially in Canada.
