Lampman 6th? 7th? AHL All Season?

What will he be in your opinon? Will he be our 6th dman who will start the season with the Rangers? 7th Dman who will be called up durning an injury? Or will he spend pretty much the whole season in the AHL?

problem is i don't really see him as a better option than some of the other guys like kondratiev of pock

i mean he may initially be more solid than those two but i think it's entirely possible they would surpass him during the season

Really? He is way better than Pock at this point imo. Pock is redundant with Kondriatev and Poti here. If Poti gets moved I say Pock is up.

Though I agree Lampman is a bottom pairing kinda guy but if you had to rely on one of these guys to play DEFENSE it's Lampman everytime for me.

he has looked better than drats. I'm surprised he was sent down although i think by mid-season he will be a top 6 guy

Actually, I was just being realistic. I haven't seen Lampman get better in the last several years--he may have reached his potential. I'm not saying that he's a career minor leaguer, just that what you see at this point is what you're going to get. However, the Powers That Be (the ones making the decisions) are not satisfied with a steady prospect, they want to hit a home run with either Pck or Drats. And very honestly, it's very possible that those two prospects have a higher potential at this point.

In any case, I would have been willing to play 3 young defensemen this year--giving Lampman the possiblity of making the team out of training camp and hopefully sticking with the club as he grows into the role. But with the signings of Roszval and Malik, Lampman has become the victim of a numbers game, leaving only two spots open for prospects from the organization (I'm including Tyutin here, because if he had come into camp out of shape and unable to keep up, he would have not been a lock).
