Best team without their top 2 players.

Take the best two players off any one team.

Are the standings much different with every team missing their top 2 players. Rank the teams accordingly.

Well Pittsburgh would be the obvious answer this year.

Detroit could do well without any of the top 2.

Van proved they could do well without some guys, and D Sedin one year.

Buffalo actually went on to have a better record without Derek Roy ( A Much better record ) then with so that was strange.

Really difficult question. Most would have assumed Pittsburgh to tank without their big two, but it didn't happen.

Anyone who has their goalie in their top 2 is in trouble.

Nah, the Bruins without Chara and Thomas are ****ed. Who cares about Savard anymore.

Montréal without Price and Markov = bottom of the league.

Montréal still has a strong forward core, but their d looks like.

Gill - Subban
Spacek - Gorges
Yemelin - Weber
Diaz.

Budaj
Delmas/Lawson.

FUUUUUUUUUUUUUU

Franzen-Zetterberg-Cleary
Hudler-Flippula-Bertuzzi
Abdelkader-Helm-Eaves
Miller-Emmerton-Mursak

Kronwall-Stuart
Ericsson-White
Kindl-Commodore 64

Howard

Not a bad lineup. Probably would finish 7th place or so without datsyuk and Lidstrom.

Bruins would not be successful without Chara and Thomas.

Actually just take Chara away and the Bruins would not be successful. Look at what happened in the first 2 games against Montreal when Chara was dehydrated.

I would say Edmonton because without their best 2 players they would still finish last. (Standings won't change)

Vancouver w/o Sedins

Burrows Kesler Samuelsson
Raymond Hodgson Sturm
Higgins Malhotra Hansen
Bitz Lapierre Nolan

Hamhuis Bieksa
Edler Salo
Ballard Tanev

Luongo
Schneider

probably would still compete for #1 in the northwest

(-) Thornton, Boyle

Marleau-Pavelski-Ferriero
Clowe-Couture-Havlat
Mitchell-Handzus-McGinn
A. Murray-Desjardins-Mashinter

Vlasic-Burns
Murray-Demers
Vandermeer/Braun-White

Niemi
Niittymaki

(your wingers may vary)

I'd say still competitive w/ Kings' undermanned roster, and by eyeball the other Pacific Division teams would be in trouble.

Bruins without Chara and Thomas:

Lucic-Krejci-Horton
Marchand-Bergeron-Peverley
Kelly-Seguin-Pouliot
Paille-Campbell-Thornton

Seidenberg-Boychuk
Corvo-Ference-
Kampfer-McQuaid

Rask
Khubodin

Rask could keep them competitive without Thomas, but there is no replacing Chara.

Without Vanek and Miller:

Ennis-Roy-Pominville
Hecht-Leino-Stafford
Gerbe-Adam-Boyes
McCormick-Gaustad-Kaleta
Ellis

Regehr-Myers
Leopold-Ehrhoff
Sekera-Weber
Gragnani

Enroth
MacIntyre/Leggio?

Defense is solidly intact. Forwards have enough depth, but Vanek would be a huge blow.

Goal is the big question mark. They played well with Enroth down the stretch...but can he do that over an 82 game season?

I guess any team whose goaltender is one of the top 2 players would really take a huge hit--that's a real tough position to overcome unless you have a 1b type backup.
