Tuesday transaction list is out...and if Haydar, Classen or Beech was claimed it would be on there. In other words...all three cleared.

a correction to some past posts where we've(i've) listed that zanon was one of the guys that had to clear waivers to be sent down...according to this morning's paper,he doesn't (even though i'm somewhat confused about why he wouldn't,since he too is 25- like haydar, fiddler and pivko, who all three have to clear because of their age).. so come to think of it,i don't know if glennon has this right or not

this rule where you have to put any claimed player on your nhl roster for 30 days if claimed from the waiver wire really protected us here...with all the other rosters in a state of chaos here right at the end of camps and teams trying frantically how to get down to their opening day roster 22 or 23, it makes it very difficult for them to claim someone right now since they'd have to guarantee a roster slot... in my mind this would be the only reason a kid like beech could possible clear the other 29 teams... i think if we'd have waited a week, when other teams rosters were a little better defined we might have lost him in the process

i'm still worried about losing gamache here in the next week or so

Pred303, where did you find that piece of waiver rules information?

we do stand that chance, but honestly I would be happy for the kid if he got the chance he deserves. we just can't realistically give it to him.

I think Gamache would get killed playing with those two.

You may be right. I never thought of it that way BUT perhaps those two would protect him. He would be a problem for the average grind line to handle. You have to admit that. My point is Gamache will make the team instead of Tootoo becasue of waivers.

I thought the knock on Gamache was his speed.

I disagree. I would speculate we will have an injuried top-6 player for atleast 15 of our 30 first games. Enter Gamache. Show us what you got.

Gamache is quicker than Tootoo though, I would believe. Toots does skate hard, but isn't any faster than Gamache.

actually i would bet tootoo is faster than gamache... there is a common misconception that because gamache is small, well he's fast too...

gamache is not a "slow" skater, but the problem is he's a slow skater 'for his size'..he has none of the explosiveness of other guys this small like the sullivan's of the world...his first three strides are only average... doesn't accelerate very quick for some one of his size either

now he is quick, with great hands,a great wrist shot, good offensive instincts, and an absolutely great stickhandler...

the negatives on any scouting report of gamache ...1)slow for his size, 2)size of course, tiny guy, 3)scores 95% of his goals from the low slot in the minors,a place where nhl scouts aren't sure he would not get killed in in the nhl much less score many, 4)is a cherry picker on defense, only attempts to play d at the blueline where he might get a steal and a breakaway, 5)overpowered oftentimes on defense

And you would replace him with? My contention is he stays instead of someone who would not have to clear waivers. Perhaps he would suceed. Perhaps he could be good trade bait with some NHL experence. Perhaps he would fall flat. In any case now is the time to find out IMO.
