Hey! I just thought of one. The Bartender and the Thief by Steophonics. That's my vote.

I don't mind it, although thinking about it, it's probably not a good one for hockey games anyway. I was just trying to think of something newer, is all.

Well she's 19 and (silence a room when she enters, but completely humble) gorgeous, so obviously, she has a life.

She never had a choice in the matter. Even my husband, the NFL nut, could not escape my hockey web. Of course she's a huge Oilers fan and considerably knowledgeable. My 26 year old daughter in Calgary is also. On occassion, she will come up so the 3 of us can take in a game. I apologize for the temporary deafness we may have caused to the fans who sat near us.

Because of this, she has a broader base of friends and gets good seats (mid silver) to many games (including the Heritage Classic [brat]), compliments of her boss. They've become really good 'hockey buds'. So when he goes, he enjoys her company, her insight and her booming voice (it's in the genes) . With 4 seats, he takes others too, and quite often gives pairs of tickets as 'rewards' to his staff. Pretty cool boss, and yes his intentions are honourable, and he has a healthy fear of me.

Back to the topic at hand. I am adding my daughters vote for Headstrong by Trapt, maybe not as the opener, but at some points thru the game. Here is the chorus:

Back off I'll take you on
Headstrong to take on anyone
I know that you are wrong
Headstrong we're Headstrong
Back off I'll take you on
Headstrong to take on anyone
I know that you are wrong
and This is not where you belong

Great beat and perfect for a young 'headstrong' team.

Awesome, thanks for the synopsis, sounds like you've got some kids you can be proud of...especially when they come through with the oilers tix.

I loved when they used Fuel by Metallica in 2000. Soul on Ice is the Danko Jones song, but it doesn't pump a team up so to speak. How bout Feel so Numb by Rob Zombie??? Kind of like when they used Marlyin Manson.

I am still sticking with some AWK, not because he is great, but because it is mindless catchy high energy music.

Party Hard - Andrew WK
Blitzkrieg bop - The Ramones
I Love Myself Today - Bif Naked
I Don't Want to Grow Up - The Ramones
State of Love and Trust - Pearl Jam
Let's Get this Party Started- Pink
Chop Suey - System of a Down (yeah I know a little bit hard
Sandstorm - Da Rude (short version)
Callin Baton Rouge - Garth Brooks
Welcome to the Jungle -Guns N Roses
Made to Heal - Our Lady Peace
Alive - POD
7 Nation Army - The White Stripes
Hash Pipe - Weezer
Try Honesty - Billy Talent
Well Adjusted - MXPX
Come Join Us - Bad Religion
The Distance - Cake
Bring Me to Life - Evanescence
Ready to Die - Andrew WK
Pedal to the Metal - Kazzer (great high energy song!)
Hell Song - Sum41

Just a few - Take what you will , toss what you will

As a note: Lyrics may not be appropriate for all songs - Listen at your own risk
RAMONES RAMONES RAMONES!!!!!!!

Gotta add Beat On The Brat to that (Great Lyrics )

Superhero - Stereofuse

The Smalls - My Saddle Horse Has Died (for when we play Calgary)

The Intro from Matthew Good Band's Giant (where the Cheerleaders scream "K-I-C-K-A-S-S, that's the way we spell success!")

(Obviously can't use the last one at the Oilers games due to it being a "family show" and all, but it would make for a great intro.)

Headstrong IMO is heads and tails above all the old metal 80's rock that has been listed - It is fast enough- has a great beat, great lyrics - everything it needs..... I'm still stumped on all the talk about Sabatoge.... It's a good song, I like it - but I'm afraid that it just doesn't work IMO - There is no catching part of the song that would be played again and again - and the instrumental parts would be terrible for hockey warmups.
