I dont see why everyone is saying the Flyers have bad prospect pool, Schenn, Couturier and Gustafsson are very solid prospects

Yes, but Wellwood and Holmstrom will become solid bottom 6 players

Even Gustafsson doesn't have a high ceiling. IMO Gustafsson's best possible career level is that of Matt Carle (not said as an insult either). For me it's Rinaldo for the simple fact that he's the only one on this list who I can see having an impact on an NHL club.

I've started to pretty much vote on potential now. Went with Akeson because he lit up the OHL and looked good in the prospect camp I went to.

How many teams in the league have blue chippers at #4? I'm not sure why you would expect the Flyers to.

Flyers prospect pool is average. Two A level prospects, one B level prospect, a lot of C prospects. Most of those C prospects are considered "safe" players as well. Holmstrom, Sestito and Read are near locks for being decent 3rd and 4th liners.

I'd rather have players like Holmstrom who I know can bring something to the table rather than a fringe player who has no other use except playing on the second line or tearing up the AHL.

I've gone with Marshall the past two times. I don't have any great hope that he will amount to anything in the end, but at least he has two somewhat decent seasons in the AHL (on crappy teams) behind him.

Nick Cousins. A PPG player as a 17 year old.

They are top end heavy with no depth.

For me the only real reason Rinaldo would have an impact is because the Flyers have a strange love for him. There are certainly better prospects who have a better chance at becoming NHL regulars.

I also voted for Marshall. I keep hoping that he will be able to make the club at some point even if he tops out at like a #4/5 D at best.

Keep hoping but all signs seem to indicate "carreer AHLer".

He has the tools but has yet to find out how to use them best. No special skills, no leadership, no offensive play, no visible improvement over the last two seasons.

The Great Dane. I'd say either stop adding new guys or else add Sullentrop (sp?)

not sure what you have against Sestito but he had 4 points in 9 games with limited ice time, A big body that can actually play the game and fight i would have thought philly would have loved him, but to reply to what you said i dont think he will clear waivers to go to the AHL this year someone will pick him up

I loathe this mentality that we should love someone because they can fight. I could care less about useless goons. Sestito wasn't even good enough for Columbus' roster. Why should I be excited about him making ours? What makes him any better than Holmstrom, Testwuide, Read, etc?
