Yes, but giving up 12 hits in 6 innings isn't going to cut it, especially when there are a lot of better offenses than the Giants. Hopefully he'll be able to help us down the stretch, but I don't think he's going to be the same pitcher we saw last season again at any time.

Well in his defense they weren't exactly crushing the ball off of him. A lot of dunk shots and squirters. And he battled, he got out of quite a few jams. He'll be fine and it's not like we don't have 4 other options to go to, if he's not up to speed by October then things will sort themselves out.

I'm more worried about our batters against that rotation. Howard has a .062 average against the Giants this year. They just can't figure out Cain and Lincecum. This guy barely ever throws a strike but yet he fools guy with the movement. He's only 10-9, so some teams have figured him out, I just wish we could.

You can't really go by his record though. I was reading an article about him before yesterday's game and it said that in his last like six games or so he had a 1.75ERA or something similar w/ like 4 losses. I don't remember the exact numbers but it they were pretty absurd.

As far as oswalt I think he and phils will be ok. I mean he got hurt earlier this season came back and pitched like 4 games or so and then got injured again. He was out for almost 2 months this last time. So that's like 5 or 6 starts in the past like 4 months. If his fastball is around 91 and still "jumps" at the hitter I think he'll be better then ok it might take a while though. But thats just my opinion.

I too am worried about the phils offense against Cain and Lincecum . Hopefully they watch a lot of video between now and the potential post season match up.

I would think you just have to get AB's against them. How much could video really help you with out seeing the pitch coming towards you, ya know?

I agree, it won't in the long run. That's kind of what I meant, he didn't have a good game but he did a good job of controlling the damage and left the game with a chance to win. That's about all you could ask of him with given the opposing pitcher and that it was his first game back in 2 months.

Seeing supposedly confirmed Tweets saying Victorino suspended three games which he is appealing... Ramirez and Whiteside (and Polanco) only fined.

If Shane got 3, Whiteside should've had 1 at the very least. The situation would've settled if the dude didn't tackle someone. And the pitcher who intentionally pegs someone gets off w/ nothing.

CSN now saying on SportsNite tht no Giants were fined... repeated that... and then said fines were handed out which they will cover later. ????

I'm thinking they mean no Giants were suspended... but misspoke.

EDIT: CSN now confirming the Giants fines and non-suspensions... also Polanco getting a fine.

Agree... thinking Whiteside should get more than one.

... BTW: I misremembered his name earlier... the jerk doesn't really deserve to have his name remembered though.

Victorino is likely getting suspended because of his interaction with the umpire. Honestly I would have hit someone too with Rollins stat padding up 6 runs.

Then you're a tool. This is the MLB, not little league. Grown men should be able to handle someone stealing a base in a game that isn't a blowout.

You know what? I hope someone trucks Whiteside's ass on a play at the plate when we play them again. Preferably Howard.

Well said. Giants still had 12 outs to work with. The game was far from over and to say Rollins was stat padding is absolutely idiotic. Can't believe I honestly just read that.

Besides what others here have posted, let me please add this... I believe J-Roll said that they were holding him on, leading him to believe that he was 'allowed' to attempt a steal (greatly paraphrased).

... I agree the interaction with the Official played a major part in the suspension... but seriously, a game for each of the two Giants fined wouldn't have been too much to ask for.

I had no problems with Rollins stealing becase he was being held on. The Giants didn't want him to advance

I don't get it. Sorry, still having my morning coffee.

On the Utley/Rivera collision, definitely the right call for interference, but after watching a couple times I wonder if Utley stopped shorter than he usually would just to make things harder on Rivera.

Also, I really really hate LA's fans. Look at the crowd during Vic's HR. Up to that point they were down by ONE RUN. Yet the announced crowd of 35,000+ is mostly gone already. Awful.

http://philadelphia.phillies.mlb.com...16837&c_id=phi

Edit: Actually that number might never have really been present. Sad.
