Hockey Prospectus' Top 10 Rangers prospects

A lot of players missing and a lot of head scratchers (Michael St. Croix is 4th, AHEAD OF JT MILLER. Uh wut?). Overall, they rank us 20th

MSC and Christian Thomas are messed up on that list.

MSC needs to be a lot lower (and JT Miller has to be higher)

And Christian Thomas should be higher as well.

Apparently, Pronman does it on potential alone

Kreider I'd put at #1, followed by Erixon, Thomas, Hagelin, Miller, Fasth, McIlrath, Weise, Bourque and St. Croix

This is a terrible list. St. Croix, Thomas and Miller have messed up positions. This guy has no idea what he is writing. Thomas is just a third liner? According to who? Does this guy pay attention the prospects. McIlrath is also too high. Thomas and Miller are easily ahead of him.

I'm not usually overly critical of these things, but that was abysmal. I honestly feel like I know less about hockey now than before I read it.

Weise was a "safe" third line forward while Christian Thomas is a third line project with 2nd pp potential?

The mere fact that he project Weise, who lacks offense, ahead of Thomas, who can skate circles around him.

As far as I'm concerned, St. Croix and Weise aren't even in the Top 10 for the Rangers.

A very few points are correct, but the rest of this stuff is garbage. Toronto @ 11 and the Rangers @ 20 is an accurate portrayal of how bad these rankings really are. Ducks @ 10 and Oilers @ 16?

The Oilers should easily be in the Top 5. I'll know to never reference that site or this writer.

Florida at #9? LA at #8?

Detroit at #1???

I don't think there is any fanbase that would agree with these rankings.

potential is just that... it's a guess at best

Half these guys will be bums, the other half will be mediocre to slightly above average probably

Then again maybe one of them turns into an all-star, you just never know

Umm, someone is not right here -

Pronman

Quote:
The hockey sense for Miller is fringe, and it's what is going to hold him back from likely ever being a top-six forward in the NHL.
Gordie Clark

Quote:
But J.T. is the type of player that would play well anywhere because he's got such great hockey sense. I think hockey sense is the biggest thing that allows a player to be successful in any situation."
Hmmm...I think I'll put my money on Clark on this one.

Awards:
While most of the critiques were pure garbage, the one that referred to Thomas as a "safe third line/bottom six" player struck me as particularly inane.

I won't even get to the part about us being ranked 20th overall, since the analyses of individual players is laughable.
