Well it may of not been the full reason, but Poile had just traded up to draft Wilson and obviously believed(s) that he can turn out to be just as good.

Hey may be NHL ready - I don't know. But I doubt he immediately jumps over Halischuk and Geoffrion on the depth chart. I hope he's so good that he comes into camp and forces his way onto the team because if he's THAT good it will mean a nice talent upgrade on a lower line. I just don't expect it to happen.

Kostitsyn-Fisher-Hornqvist
Erat-Legwand-Wilson
Spaling-Smithson-Tootoo
Bergfors-O'Reilly-Halischuk/Geoffrion/Smith
Geoffrion/Halischuk/Smith (one or two of these will be in the minors)

Weber-Suter
Klein-Blum
Your guess is as good as mine on the third pairing.

of course if you're talking last season, you have to consider that he went to the panthers to play with, well nobody... rather than playing in NJ with guys like Zajac and Parise. It's not like the Preds have a tremendous amount of offensive power, but we're at least as good as the Thrashers were and definitely better than the Panthers.

That said, I don't believe he's definitely top 6 out of the gate. I do think he can potentially lead the team in goal scoring this season, but like everyone else, he will have to earn the scoring line minutes.

I also think that Kyle Wilson has a chance of making the Preds. I just think Trotz will really like him, but it's hard to pick anyone ahead of him right now that he would replace.

Surprised to see so many people not putting Wilson in your top 6. I still think you guys don't know what you have with this kid...

I see an incredibly solid and underrated lineup. Then again, I've been looking at Avs' depth charts for the last few years so maybe everything looks good.

Your right to more clarify it ...in his career for one season and I hope that he can do what your saying. I'm all for it. Training camp will attempt to solve all these problems but knowing Trotz and his lineup pairings it will all change.

Wilson has a lot of potential. Until he starts to reach it he'll be a 3rd liner.

Bergfors has more potential to be a pure goal scoring sniper.

Wilson has more potential to be a well-rounded power forward.

Kostitsyn-Fisher-Hornqvist
Erat-Legwand-Wilson(Id start Wilson on top 6 but thats just me)
Spaling-Smithson-Tootoo
Bergfors-O'reilly-Halischuk/Geoffrion/Smith/Beck

Weber-Suter
Blum-Klein
Ellis-Josi

Rinne
Lindback

This would be my guess aswell. I think Halischuk has a roster spot nailed down but anything can happen in camp. Wilson needs time in the top6 to prove his value and bergfors needs motivation to work hard, so putting him with a greasy goal scorer in Hali and an offensive set-up man in O'Reilly seems like a good mix.

SK/Fisher/Horns and Spaling/Smithson/Tootoo should be locks.

Folks, Zack Stortini was signed to be our tough guy/13th forward. Without going through them all again, I think I'm the only one to list him thus far...

I doubt Craig Smith or Taylor Beck start in Nashville. They will prove their way in Milwaukee for a little while before getting their shot.

But since Stortini is signed to a two-way contract, that makes me think he'll at least be spending some time in Milwaukee at some point.

We'll see, but I think Stortini sticks as the 13th forward and designated tough guy...

Yea I suppose it would make more sense designating Stortini as the regular scratch than one of our young'ins

I think the Preds are again going to try to role 3 scoring lines like they planned for last year.

Erat-Legwand-Wilson
SK-Fisher-Horny
Bergfors-CalO-Craig Smith
Spaling-Smithson-Tootoo

We have a young, deep core... of third liners. Halischuk, Geoffrion not in my lineup but could see Smith and or Bergfors starting with the Ads.

D is obvious until the final two. I think Josi is in so Hillen with some experience makes sense. I could see Ekholm beating out Josi.

Ellis starts in the Ahl for sure in my mind.
