It's only speculation, but a guy like Bernier was probably hoping for a one-way deal in the first two weeks of July. Also, Montreal couldn't wait too long if they wanted to add a quality veteran to Hamilton's lineup.
However, Montreal still has room for a spare forward so I wouldn't be surprised to see Bernier being invited to Montreal's training camp.
I really hope it happens, it's a low risk high reward move imo.

Bernier has poor hockey IQ, forget it about the reward thing, this kid's NHL carreer will probably end soon.. Bernier is definitely not an option when you have Palushaj in your system.. You will have to find better..

Bernier on a two way or as a camp tryout is a no-brainer IMO.

What's the "high reward"? Or is it just because he was an '03 first rounder that people still think he has upside? Aside from a brief flash in San Jose 5 years ago, the guy has been nothing more than a jersey filler his entire career.

I've heard they have even managed to drive away their biggest fan I've ever meet...... the guy with the camera for those who know.
This was late last year, maybe things have changed.

Habs sign Zack FitzGerald to an AHL contract
http://hamiltonbulldogs.com/article/...-year-contract
very minor deal, adding depth to the bulldogs D
26 years old and played just one game in the NHL with Vancouver
edit: didn't realize it was already posted, sorry about that

We need someone to do the bruising and to protect our important players in Hamilton. I guess that's where he comes in.
