When do you think we'll see back-to-back cups again?

Boston is still stacked and I think they have an excellent chance.

1. Pitt (if there is a healthy Crosby/Malkin)
2. Hawks (with a more stable roster)
3. Tampa (with a more legit #1 goalie)
4. Detroit (needs to be in the next 2-3 years...and with no injuries)

Boston has got a shot, they won the cup without Seguin playing a major role(except for a couple of games against TB). Now he's a year older and they picked up Hamilton. That's a #2 overall and a #9 overall to a cup team that didn't lose anything to acquire them. Gotta figure if Seguin reaches anywhere close to his potential they have a real good shot.

I think the Bruins have the best shot. They're half way there and they have the same team. They also have a lot of talent coming up (depth). They also play in the east and will likely arrive to each final less beat up than anyone coming out of the west.

As for the rest you need to look for a current contender whose core will be intact for the forseeable future and has a lot of depth. I think Van, and Chi fit that description. I would say Was but they haven't shown they can play at a championsip level yet.

The last team to do it?

1997 - Detroit Red Wings
1998 - Detroit Red Wings

-----------------------------

2000 - New Jersey Devils
2001 - New Jersey Devils lose in SCF

------------------------------

2008 - Detroit Red Wings
2009 - Detroit Red Wings lose in game 7 of SCF

------------------------------

2009 - Pittsburgh Penguins
2010 - Pittsburgh Penguins lose in 2nd round.

See the difference?

That's why Pittsburgh didn't come as close as Detroit to repeating.

Besides, Pittsburgh won in 09, with Datsyuk missing the first 5 games of the SCF, and Franzen, Stuart, Kronwall, Rafalski among others all playing injured.

No excuses, just saying.

Maybe I'm missing something, unless your point is that Pittsburgh didn't come as close because they didn't make it past the 2nd round? If that's the case, isn't that a little obvious? Basically like me saying the reason Colorado hasn't won back to back cups in the past 5 years because we haven't made it to the playoffs in back to back seasons?

I agree. Boston's chances coming out on top in the east again are pretty good. They really haven't lost anyone important besides Recchi, and he can be easily replaced.

Don't forget Ryder and Kaberle. But I guess Corvo is there to replace Kaberle.
