I know and i agree. i am just stating that Charest uses a lot of money for very little. He's extremely uneffective and his government is filled up with corruption. All of this has nothing to do with separatism/federalism btw. some of the best Premiers were federalist/separatist (Lesage and Levesque, imo best duo of politicians we had in the 60s! Hydro Quebec is their legacy..) Quebec also isn't in a terrible situation, the more socialist model we preach can work. It works in scandinavia. We just have been served with 20 years of inept politicians who constructed an oversized bureaucracy and fed the mafia worthy construction industry.

is this just popular belief or has this actually been proven ? I'm not defending the government but it seems like everyone here is crying about corruption when they most likely have no (real) idea what is actually going on. I mean, how do you KNOW for certain that is what's happening ?

"...and in Montreal there is a chance of precipitations and showers, falling bridges and crashing concrete blocks. Dont forget to put on your Concrete Blocker if you dont want a cement-burn! "

Exactly. At least, here the medias are talking about it. I'd be much more worried to live in a place where journalists never talks about corruption and organized crime.

This has never been proven anymore than it can be proven in any other province or state where it routinely occurs. Let's face it organized crime is everywhere. Only here do we blame organized crime for the pitiful state of our infrastructure.

And only in Quebec do we blame Charest and the Liberals for roads falling apart when the PQ was on a mission of purposely ignoring the city of Montreal for their entire time leading the province. Apparently, to read some of these posts you'd think the roads and infrastructure suddenly went to hell once Charest was elected.

I'm pretty sure that the same construction companies were awarded the same type of contracts during the PQ reign but that "corruption" is overlooked by most. If there was a lack of maintenance I'd start looking at who was in power from '76 onwards and divide the blame accordingly. I'm sure Pauline Marois budget for her toilette could have been better spent on our roads.

I don't object to user fees but tolls on the roads is not the solution. They'll simply take that money and dump it into "general fund" and do what they want with it. More taxes and tolls is not the answer. Accountability is the answer but sadly we will never make the politicians accountable and we will continue to accept this type of treatment. The solution for some here is to change Charest, like the next government won't do exactly what he's doing right now? If the PQ was in power would our roads be better?

CBC has since changed their story to say it's possible someone threw the concrete down onto a car.

If that's true, the one who did this must be a ****ing retarded. "Hey look, I'm so cool I'm throwing a concrete on a car. Hahaha that's funny !"... No that's not. I wonder what they're thinking when doing this.
