Lawsuit time, Senators will not just give away 150 K because a player decided he does not want to play anymore

Brett Lebda.

If only to troll Leaf fans when he inevitably becomes an NHL All-Star.

Another source mentioned
that D-man Rob Davison was available.

Although he is not a PMD.

Perhaps B Murray could sign him to a two way deal, like they did with Hale last season...........

+ he would NOT be that expensive..........

It's a pretty clear-cut case of breach of contract if he does retire, so I don't think it'll be any trouble to get it back.

Outside of promising him NHL games this year like they did with Daugavins, I don't think you could convince the guy not to make a ton more money in Europe.

He just didn't want to play in the AHL anymore. With Europe as an option, you're starting to see the transition of veteran players not willing to stay in the AHL after they realize that the NHL is not a viable option.

The AHL is slowly but surely becoming exclusively a prospect development league again.

I agree, you have some valid points..his size limit's his abilities @ the NHL level, he's won 2 Calder Cups and yes, there is more financial rewards over sea's..not much more too prove in the AHL, I just hoped he would be back but our D is really lacking right now w/ D Smith, Kinrade, Hale, Sweat and Benny gone..
