He's a borderline NHLer right now. Played with very good teammates last season, his overage year, but he can put the puck in the net, so he'll get a good look in TC.
Really did not come on til he was 19. So, question is whether he's a late bloomer or just a borderline player.
BTW, although he will be on the Rangers team at TC, any NHL team could sign him.
Surprised to hear you say that. What i saw was not great. I have my doubts about him being an AHL star, much less an NHLer. This is one kid who really did look too small for the pro game. But I hope I am wrong.

If anyone is going to have a monster tournament, it is going to be Christian Thomas. I have feeling the hype machine (on him) will head into overdrive after the tourney commences.
Hear, hear!
A monster tournament will boost his confidence heading into camp. I have no doubt he will rule. I'm excited I will get to watch it happen.

Hypothetically, if someone signs him before the tournament, he can't play for us right?

Right, but I don't see that happening.
I used a very poor choose of words in my post.
I see Kabashian as a potential borderline NHLer, as his potential stands today. Meaning that his upside is a a borderline NHLer, not that he is ready for that right now. Hope this clears up this issue, and I will be more careful when I write.
A group of 24 prospects will represent the Rangers next month at the annual Traverse City Prospects Tournament, which the Blueshirts won in 2007. Nineteen of the 24 members of the 2011 roster are players whose NHL rights are currently owned by the Rangers. Ten players are Rangers draftees from the past two years, while 13 others have already signed their first NHL contracts with the team.
18 of the 24 players participated in the Rangers’ annual Prospect Development Camp earlier this summer. This includes 2011 draft picks J.T. Miller, Michael St. Croix, Shane McColgan, Samuel Noreau and Peter Ceresnak.
Forward Ryan Bourque, the Rangers’ 2009 third round selection, and goaltender Scott Stajcer, the Rangers’ 2009 fifth round choice, will be returning to the tournament for the third consecutive season. They will be joined by defensemen Lee Baldwin and Jyri Niemi, who were both members of the Rangers’ Traverse City team last summer. Five players from the 2010 draft class -- forwards Christian Thomas, Andrew Yogan, Jason Wilson and Randy McNaught, and defenseman Dylan McIlrath -- are also back from the 2010 team.
There's only three guys on this roster who have played in a tournament somewhat similar to this.
Bourque U-20 Gold, Bronze
Erixon U-20 Silver x2, Bronze
Miller U-18 Gold
So, i expect them to be the leaders for the Rangers in this tournament.
Lets not forget that Erixon has represented in the adult WC and taken home a Silver just earlier this year. Playing beating the likes of Ovechkin and Kovalchuk then dispatching Nash and Spezza, this guy should dominate against kids.
Did Bowman and McIlrath play on the same pairing in Moose Jaw? Was going through some game sheets on WHL site but couldn't really figure out if they were consistently together.

Bowman did play on the same team as Shane McColgan in 09-10.
