As a Bruins fan, this is not happening. There isn't any realistic way that Marchand plays for the Kings unless a wealth of talent goes the other way. We're talking about a guy who could have a 30 goal peak, great seed, good penalty killer, a certain toughness and cutthroat attitude, and just had one of the best playoff years ever for a rookie. And he's an entertaining player who will put people in the seats to watch him go. Boston won't surrender that cheaply, nor should they.

Chia probably has a price in mind. The Kings guys probably don't have any desire to meet that price.

I don't think Marchand will go to the Kings, but if available, I guarantee Lombardi would be willing to pay a lot. Right now, we have a gaping hole on our third line RW, (sorry guys, Richardson doesn't like playing RW) and Marchand is Dean's ideal player because he's a guy that everyone hates to play against. That's why he went after Penner, Mitchell, Richards, and drafted Clifford. The Marchands of the league are literally Dean's favorites - the guys that bring energy, leadership (by example), and come up clutch in the playoffs. I wouldn't be surprised at all to see Dean give up Voynov and a high pick for him. He will ultimately end up in Boston because Chiarelli isn't looking to deal him, but in the case he is, Dean should and will go after Marchand hard.

I'm sure the Kings like Marchand. So does every other team. Marchand had a beastly playoff performance and opened many, many eyes. I don't see the Bruins moving him, no way.

Chiarelli has a man-crush on JJ.

Still think this is just L.A. asking why he hasn't signed yet and nothing more.

Hickey's value is at an all time low hile Marchand's couldn't be higher.
I'd imagine the Kings would have to add...

These "no chance of happening" trade specs/rumors during the offseason are getting annoying. Here's to hoping we Drew gets signed soon and camp/season starts.

I was not a big Westgarth fan, but I admit he showed lots of potential during the playoffs. Also the big man can skate. Also hoping that through injuries or whatever, they give Lokti lots of experience as we could use him after Stoll is gone.

I've been watching some Kings games from this past season, and I was very impressed with Alec Martinez. He plays an unspectacular, but smart, technically sound game in all three zones.

The reason I'm posting this is that I'm wondering what Kings fans feel his role will be this season. Will he play on the third pairing? Who do you think his partner will be? Any chance he sneaks his way into the top-4?

Just curious, any responses are appreciated.

A-Mart will probably see almost strictly bottom pairing minutes with Matt Greene. The Top 4 is pretty much set in stone, and probably time on on the #2 PP.

as opposed to last season, where when an injury occured to Doughty/JJ, Matt Green moved up, i think it would be Martinez moved up ahead of him now.

I hope A-Mart is groomed to be our #4 in 12-13 when Mitchell contract is up, and Scuds moves to the top line. JJ and A-Mart getting some ice time together this year in bits and pieces when injuries occur would help that. Or after a pk where the other 4 dmen kill it off, getting JJ and A-Mart out on the ice for the immediate shift after

On the other hand, it wouldnt be crazy for Voynov to steal the job off him and A-mart to spend a majority of the year as the 7th D by default

There's a-doins transpirin' over on the Canes board. I was going to wait until he got to our roster, but the hell with it, its really funny to keep up with.
