I spoke to my rep friday, and they haven't received any info yet. Based on what has happened in the past, Flyers, Phillies, and Rangers season ticket holders will get first crack. General public will be through a lottery.

That is all expected to change next week when the NHL will finally - formally and officially - announce Citizens Bank Park as the home of the 2012 Winter Classic between the Flyers and New York Rangers, a league source told the Daily News.

It will be by far the latest announcement of the summer compared to the previous four Winter Classic setups, each of which were announced in July.

The Phillies are expected to finally sign off on the rental terms for Citizens Bank Park to make the deal "done and documented," the source said. NHL officials have visited Citizens Bank Park numerous times over the past few weeks to hammer out the detail

Brooks wrote a few weeks ago about the Phillies being difficult/dragging their feet in negotiations about renting the ballpark. The other 4 venues signed off at earlier dates. The NHL has targeted the ballpark in Philly since last winter.

Dumb venue. Franklin Field would have been better. Bad enough they have these in baseball stadiums. CBP sucks and has zero tradition. Should have done it in State College. 100,000 at the game would have been cool.

Joe Paterno won't allow any hockey games in Beaver Stadium. True story.

Agreed 100% on Franklin Field though. Played a lacrosse game there once. Great place. Baseball stadiums also suck for hockey.

Paterno doesn't let anything on the field at Beaver Stadium. The facility is literally ONLY used for home football games.

This underscores even more why I hate the Phillies. Freaking crap load of money, exposure for your park, and your city coming your way and you're dragging your feet. Idiots.

Franklin Field is falling apart. There are entire lower sections of the stadium closed because of holes, deterioration of the upper deck.

He doesn't have final say. If everything lined up he would be overruled. This year's decision came down to either CBP or Beaver:

That jersey that has been floating that was said to be the Rangers WC jerseys are confirmed not to be the jersey by Blueshirt Banter. They said the organization themselves confirmed it's not those.

Not related to the Winter Classic, but its Flyers related so I figured I'd post it here. Kind of funny. Nylander is attending the Flyers training camp. Jagr and Nylander anyone? LOL the 39 year old duo

Still don't understand why this got so much attention. It is a Chinese Knock-off on EBay that they just made up. Same thing happened last year.

Or get rid of the crest and replace with "rangers" or "new York"

Good good good. They weren't terrible but I'd rather they wear something that they actually have worn before. And it should be blue; this is a one off game so travel isn't an issue and nobody actually owns black and white TVs anymore so there's no reason both teams can't wear darks.

How about this for a bit of an off the wall idea. Why not pay tribute to the history of NHL hockey in New York. Wear an old New York Americans jersey but replace the word Americans with Rangers. I know it would be weird since the Rangers and Amerks were rivals but I think it would be neat to see.

That actually looks cool in my brain. Off white with red outline and blue lettering.
