Cal Clutterbuck to the Kings

I think Clutterbuck would look great on the Kings 3rd line. Does the addition of Setoguchi diminish his role on the wild? Is he a player that could be aquired at the right price, or is it a no go from the start?

Having Brown, Richards and Clutterbuck on the team would make us pretty intimidating, The opposition would have to keep their heads up.

What would Kings fans have said, last year, in a "Simmonds to Minnesota?" thread?

Been down this route many times before. Clutterbuck is worth far more to the Wild than you'd be willing to give up. This is bound to turn into a thread insulting the other teams' talent. You'd laugh at what we'd ask for and we'd scoff at what you'd offer.

Pretty much all prospects are available, but I doubt the Kings want to trade roster players not named Dustin Penner.

That could usually be said about any player in the league when they're posted in this area of the forums, but I do, of course, agree with you. The only way this works from a Kings perspective is if they're moving prospects/futures as they wouldn't want to part with a roster player...of course I doubt the Wild would go for that.

Think L.A would have to overpay to get the Wild's fan favourite. Hickey/Forbert + Loktionov + 2nd would do nicely for the wild in the long run and they aren't expected to be a dangerous team next year... so it's not likely they'd be screwing themselves later with this trade.

He's my favourite player of the Wilds, nice checking-style.
I still cannot believe, that he is just in the 3rd Line there.

If Doughty signs with the Kings, they have to watch their cap payroll, so not much space to get Clutterbuck.

You'd have to start with a 1st round pick AND a top-5 forward prospect with high offensive upside. Clutterbuck may only be a bottom-6 player, but he might be the best bottom-6 player in the league (well, at least in terms of hits).

Think 1st round pick (2012), Vey, & Richardson.

I'm more excited about a Powe and Clutterbuck wrecking ball line than anything any team would reasonably trade for him.

The Wild are amidst a bit of re-tool at this point so for really any player they would conceivably trade, I'm sure they'd be fine with high draft picks and fairly well regarded prospects to add to their already strong pool. However, from a PR standpoint, the Wild just moved one of the three fan favorites on the team. Moving another at this point in time just wouldn't happen barring something insanely in the Wild's favor, in my opinion of course.

And he scored 19 goals next year
Pretty darn good for the 3rd line.

Yeah, the fans reacted to the Burns move fairly well, but you don't ship out all the players that your fans love in a single offseason. As I've said in a number of other Clutterbuck threads, fans would demand Fletcher's removal if he traded Clutterbuck this soon after trading Burns, unless we received an absolutely ridiculous overpayment for him.
